Question for those familiar with Pettit intake

I picked up a nearly new Pettit intake for dirt cheap ($100), filters are still in original packaging. The kit had been removed from its original Pettit packaging though. I am afraid that it may be missing a couple parts. Is there supposed to be a pipe or tube that slips between the filters and the intake hoses to the turbos? If so is it just plain pipe of some kind or is it tapered or otherwise notstandard pipe?
If it is just regular piping, what size?

thanks

yes actually there is a small pipe that goes into the end of the intake hose and the intake filter. just a plain pipe, sorry dunno size

I would recommend keeping the filters and the heatshield, ditching the rest of the crap, and getting some nice hardpipes :)

i think you are missing more that a simple pipe. my pettit intake has a purple piece that is actually two connector pipes welded together with a bracket in the middle that angles the filters down so they don't hit the hood or the hood support rod. there should also be a large polished pipe that looks sort of like a bent field goal post that connects to your air pump and i forget what else. as goodfella said, you can get by without these with some inventive solutions but you are definitely missing pieces. i can take pics of my pettit intake tonight or tomorrow if you want to see it. also, check the lightning in a world of thunder (i forget the web address) site and he has scanned installation instructions for the pettit that will show what parts you should have.

I have the piece that "looks sort of like a bent field goal post". I think the connectors from filter to intake pipe is all I need then.

So Goodfella, where can I get some nice hardpipes at a reasonable (cheap) cost?

i'll answer for goodfella, since i'm pretty sure that most people familiar with this board will know the answer. call gotham racing. the web site is in his sig.

Yup, You reall y only need the heat shield and the filters. You can simply vent both the BOV and the CRV to the atmosphere to get that BOV sound.

Some guy is also selling intake hardpipes on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2423690898
I have these. Although, I paid way too much for them back when they were first listed on ebay.

Speaking of those Ebay hard-pipes, I'm intrigued. What is really included? One picture shows a couple pipes with filters and some hose clamps. The picture of it installed on the FD however shows what appears to be an actual intake system, with provisions for the other stock hoses. Which is correct?

Also, could you just use the pipes to replace the stock hoses, and use it with a Pettit intake? I'm seriously considering it even if that's all it is. I'm just not so sure about the aluminum filters...how well do they filter and how well do they flow, compared to the K&Ns?
