Question On PETTIT ECU`s

Gents/Ladies,
I have a 93 FD Automatic, with 66,000 miles...I have done some minor upgrades such as Pettit down pipe, cold plugs and catback exhaust. I have left the main cat for back pressure since it`s an automatic...However, the car runs well but just wanted to be on the safe side so i don`t screw it up by blowing the motor.

I was thinking of getting a Pettit ECU. If so, will a 5 speed/Upgraded ECU work or it has to be a automatic.

Could you please englighten me as which ECU Upgrade is the BEST...

Sincerely
Andre

pettit unlimited ecu is best for a ecu upgrade without going standalone. I dont know if a manual ecu would work on a auto however, try calling pettit monday and asking.

its very difficult to control the boost with pettit unlim ecu specialy with midpipe and no boost controller!!!!

No, you can't use a 5-Speed ECU with an automatic.

Thats not what he was asking in this case however. The simple answer to your question andre is stated by Mahjik. If cant be used. Good lookin car you got there though.

I don't have an auto...but is there anything you can do to make an auto faster??!?!

There are tons of things you can do to automatics to make them faster. They are limited as to what they can upgrade, but not really as limited as you might think.

Andre,

Basically, with an automatic, here are your upgrade ECU options:

1. Use a piggy-back ECU like the EFI/PFS PMS. It will work with the stock ECU and still retain the HOLD function.

2. Use an aftermarket programable ECU like the PFC or Haltech. However, with this option you'll lose the automatic HOLD feature, but it will work. Many automatic drivers can't live without the HOLD feature so this option is usually out of the question.

You might do some research on your own about the AEM ECU. I "heard" it was suppose to retain the automatic HOLD function, but I'm not sure.

ECU upgrade

Gents,

Thanks for the quick response...I've been giving it a lot of thought whether to go to a separate stand alone such as a Haltech E6K or E11.

I haven't decided whether or not I would like to keep it cost effective or go all out. I have a Haltech F5 and a Greddy elbow with two 750cc injectors plumbed into it. I was wondering if anyone has already tried this approach for fuel enrichment. If so, could you please inform me of the pros and cons.

sincerely,

Andre

You've got good taste. Looks like a potential sleeper. I've got 3 questions...

1. What kind of wheels are those?

2. Which exhaust do you have?

3. What percent tint are your windows?

Thanks

answer to your questions

thanks for the compliments...

1. The wheels are from Japan...19"x8.5 front
and 19"x9.5 rear. they are the Altstadt Type 1.

2. The exhaust is a catback, named "Fu-Jitsobo" by a company called Jasma in Japan. They make all of HKS`s exhaust...

3. The tint is a special industrial tint used only for homes and corp. buildings...to me it looks like a factory tint from the dealer.....you would need to see it in person to really understant.

thanks again
Andre
