Question after coolant flush????
 

So I changed out my stock radiator for a KOYO and flushed and filled the coolant system. Now a couple of questions:
1. What kind of coolant is everyone using? Does it matter?

2. When filling through the filler neck, I keep filling and it is never full, what it does do is come out the overflow tank all over my garage floor. What could the problem be? I've checked all the hoses and the caps. Is this supposed to happen? Should I fill it up and put the cap on quick to hold vacum? (Guess that was a bunch of questions)

3.Took the car out for a road test and it ran at 99 C. When I got it home, just as I pulled in the driveway the add coolant light came on but the temps were in range both on the PFC and on the temp gauge. Was this an air pocket forming in the filler neck?

refill at the overflow tank.
it has a full and low line on the end of the cap.

but if you just replaced the coolant than you may still have pockets of air in the system.

The reason it's running hot on the Power FC and the buzzer is coming on is that you didn't burp the system. You have to get all of the air out.

Do a search regarding what coolant to run. And read the "big fat coolant thread" in the FAQ's.

There has to be a leak somewhere in the system for it to be pouring out on the garage floor. Re-check all of your fitting, caps, etc.

Read the thread, burped the system, no leaks and can't find the right coolant? But I'll keep looking...

I forgot to mention that the coolant line to the TB has been removed by previous owner.

On possibility for your oringinal question #2: If you are by any chance using a "vented" radiator cap on your aftermarket (Pettit) AST (16# is the most common "vented" model I think), then the little valve that allows coolant to flow back to the overflow tank will stay OPEN when the system is not under pressure. This results in coolant flowing into (and overflowing) the overflow tank when you are trying to fill it through the other (higher) filler cap. The solution is simple, get a "non-vented" radiator cap and the seal is slightly spring loaded even under no pressure so coolant does not flow to the overflow tank while filling. Note: do not confuse "vented" here with the pressure relieve lever on some radiator caps -- these are two entirely different things.
