Question about street port engine
If I street port my engine, do I need aftermarket computer? or can I still use the stock one? My mods are only dp and cat-back.
Thanks |
I would get one, although a streetport only requiers maybe 1 0r 2 degress of timing retarded, it needs a lot more fuel.
tough to say, you may be okay, but I woudln;t do it, you woudl negate the advantages of teh strretport in the firstplace. |
i drove my car with a new streetport for 4000 miles before buying an aftermarket ecu. ran ok with stock one, just keep the boost down. i'd recommend spending the money on one right away, instead of running to lean and blowing a new $4000 motor.

My friend got a street ported engine. When he release the gas pedal, I always hear a "pop" sound from the exhaust. Is it normal? or something problem for his tunning?

maybe back fire, if it is a back fire id tune it better but if there was fire shooting out the exhaust when it happens i would keep it!!!!!!

It doesn't has fire, only the "pop" sound.

or you can get backfiring from leaky injectors and a bad FPD. haha. i almost burned my car up on the way home one day. i feel lucky and i havent even had it for a year.

my car would backfire nicely between shifts (flames and all) with pettit streetport and stock ecu. with the pettit unlimited the car won't backfire nearly as much(i kinda miss the flames!)
