Question about the HOLD button on an auto

ok so I installed my new(used) AT ECU because the previous owner thought it would be a good idea to put a 5-sp ECU in and the hold light would flash constantly. So now the hold button isn't flashing, but I can't drive my car due to a bad charge control solenoid. I don't have anything to compare this to, but if I press the hold button at any time (park, first, sec, etc) the HOLD light isn't comming on. Do you have to be moving for it to recognige this or what's the deal so I know if I've got control of the button back, or am I just SOL until I get her fix and try it out. Thanks.

It should come on at anytime the car is powered on or started, i honestly don't think the hold button will work with the Manual computer, just as it will not work with an aftermarket computer.

It didn't work...it just flashed all the time. That's why i bought a used AT ECU. Thanks for the info!

the hold light should come on anytime you press in while the car is on. no matter what position the shifter is in.
the hold feature will work with piggyback computers, like the EFI PMC. and also supposelly the AEM.
