Question about FD, Please Help!
 

I took my car apart to put on new plugs and wires and at first it was missing when we got all done but i seen that there was a sensor-boost hose unplugged so i got that fixed and when i was putting it back together there is a gasket in between the throttle body and the actual head of the motor (hopefully u all know what gasket i'm talkin about) Now, after i put everything back together the throttle is sticking. Is there a certain way that the gasket needs to go back on. I got it all lined up as far as the holes for the butterflies go but i think that the butterflies are hitting the gasket, is that possible if they gasket it put on backwards? When i push on the gas and let it back out really slow from the inside of the car i can feel it catch and then let go right away. Maybe a spring on the throttle broke?? Please Help, plan on bringing the car out next weekend.

Can you just work the throttle by hand? That way you might be able to see where the interference is. If you have a touring w/cruise, check that cable as well. If you remove the intake elbow do you see the throttle plates moving freely. Fast idle cam sticking? I'm just throwing things out. Maybe these will give you some other ideas.

Why don't you pull it apart again and have a look to see if the gasket might be hitting the butterflies as you mentioned? I think the gasket only goes on one way.

Also check the cables to the throttle body including the one from the cruise control. You could have kinked it somehow. Spray it up with some silicon lube or WD40. I have a feeling that is what you did.

Which sensor are you talking about? MAP? A picture is worth a 1000 words...

Thanks, well im not worried about the sensor anymore cause i got that fixed. Just for reference where is the cruise cable. I was lookin at the car with someone and i hit the gas when it was on and it got stuck and shot up to 7500 and then the other guy hit the throttle part on the side of the throttle body and then the rpms retuned to normal. Is it possible that a spring broke? Or if the spring broke would the throttle not work at all?

And i can work the butterflies by hand but they go half way and then stick then i push harder and they open up the rest of the way and close normally.

Actuator sits against the inside of the left fender just behind the shock tower. Has it's own throttle cable which runs under the intake elbow and hooks to the throttle body outboard of the accelerator cable. Sorry don't have a picture handy.

When you operate the throttle by hand, you should be able to feel the return spring. Also, have you tried a little lubricant in the pivots of the throttle body?

Does anyone else have any input/advice??
