Question on 350hp set up
Hi im new to the whole rotary world, ive been trying to search on here for a set up that can get me 350hp. i couldnt find a topic that has what i was looking for.im deployed in iraq and im thinking b/w a supra or rx7 but really thinking about getting a rx7 3rd gen. im just wondering how much work has to be done to it. if it would cost more to get done than a regular piston engine or if its easier to get done. If anyone can help me find a good setup for 350hp i would greatly appreciate it.Thank You

Now, are you wanting "350 rwhp" (to the wheels) which is about "400 hp" (brake or flywheel hp); or are you wanting "350 hp" which will be about "310 rwhp" ?

Catback Exhaust System, Intake system, Apex Power FC, Downpipe,Fuel Pump Upgrade, Midpipe, Intercooler Upgrade.
you should be good for 320-350. with the supra all you have to do is buy the car i think it comes with 320bhp |
that should be about 290-300whp.
First of all supra's 2JZ has more potential and waay more reliability If you still want RX7, you can get close to this numbers by: downpipe catback high flow cat Intake Side mounted intercooler SMIC Pettit ECU and all reliability mods listed in FAQ. |

I've dyno'ed 350 rwhp on my setup. To reproduce you can achieve that running stock or 99 twin turbos with a Street ported motor plus the following mods:
Flow mods such as: - exhaust (downpipe, high flow cat, cat back) - open intake - Greddy elbow - larger IC Fuel system improvements such as: - bored out stock 850cc secondary injectors to 1300cc - fuel pump Electronics: - Power FC standalone ECU + datalogit and tuning - Ignition amp as you'll need to run ~15 PSI to achieve ~350 rwhp - clutch - upgraded radiator Note that the twins don't stand up to 15 PSI for long. Also, that number will be hard to hit with a non-ported motor. Edit: Check the FAQ as moconnor suggested. Its all right there :) |

*i dyno'd 324rwhp on a mustang dyno (dyno's lower numbers then dynojet)
*on a dynojet it would be over 350rwhp and over 400 flywheel hp. so it would greddy 2row fmic koyo rad 99spec turbo's @ 13-14 psi 3"turbo back exhaust (no cat) hks intakes aem ems greddy pulley's supra fuel pump 2 extra 750cc injectors running a 10-10.5 afr at wot |

The 20b, and 4 rotor cars would like to have a word with you. |
Supra, hell no. A supra is a fat pig. I know, I know there are supras with mad horsepower but there are rx7's with mad horse power. I have ben to at least two dyno tunning sessions with a simple single turbo upgrade, ecu, porting work make it to the 500's. Anyway my FD is at 338whp and all I have done is a v-mount, Electramotive Tech-GT, and a 3in 310 stainless straight exhaust. I am only running 14psi on stock twins with about 80,000 mi on them. My engine is a reman with 40,000 mi on it. I have had the car for almost a year now and have auto-x the crap out of it. I have had no issues or problems with the car. The best way to have a good FD experience is to spend the money on a good ecu and tune. I think most people'sproblems with there rx7's is that they dont spend the money in the first place and suffer for it later, or dont do there reserch to find a good starting platform.

I really appreciate the help. Its just these two cars really catch my eye and if i cant get ths upra i was looking at the rx7. just reading at the stuff here gets me lost because i dont understand some of the engine stuff people write on here. I know quite a bit on piston engines but im really lost when it comes to rotaries especially when it comes to part names thats been abbreviated. I know the supra is very heavy but it can dish out aup to 1000hp if put a lot of money into it but im not really sure how much whp a rx7 can dish out also. one thing that im trying ot figure out also since i dont think i can do smost of the engine work myself is if im going to be spending a lot of money just to get some decent whp out of the rx7.

First of all, the RX-7 is never a "second choice" car. If you come in the the mentality of "Well I couldn't get what I wanted, so I picked this little fast 2-seater go-box" then you'll be butthurt, broke and hating the car within a matter of months.
Secondly, the Supra and the 7 are completely different types of cars. They really aren't replacements for each other, which says to me you need to do a lot more research before you press on. |
