quad exhaust?
i personally like the quad exhausts modern performance cars have, got bored and curious at work and thought, rx7 with quad exhaust? how would that look?
http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/6890/quadex.jpg http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/3125/quadep.jpg i personally like it now if only it was easy to modify the under body to fit 2x RB dual tips from a Y shape and into a resonator then DP, imagine the low noise levels with a 4" + exhaust :shocking: i would definitely go this route, would you? |
hmmm, in my mind, it looks too.... euro...
i like the big ass fartcan sticking out at an angle down on the right hand side there, together with a spirit R look and rear diffuser :D |
+ looks more balanced/symmetrical
+ reduces exhaust noise with additional muffler + unique compared to most FD's - adds extra un-needed weight, on a car that is focused on lightweight - might require some trimming/cutting to fit - cost of additional muffler, tips, piping, etc in my experience... the "single large angled up" exhaust pipe is generally associated with imports and ricer fart pipes.... a dual-dual setup with moderately sized tips is more often seen on more upscale euro cars, and muscle cars. im not saying that is correct, but just a general impression ive seen from various car enthusiasts. but when it comes down to it, who cares what other people think? if you like it, and dont mind the extra weight, i say GO FOR IT! BTW, RB dual tip would be a great look/choice if they would fit. I love mine! |
Too bad the only way to achieve this is to replace the gas tank to a Fuel Cell...

unless its a race car ;) |
Looks cool but out of place.
Or maybe because im not used to it. The FD is too small to have a quad exhaust but then again SLK amg's have quads and they look amazing. I guess its the design of that exhaust. Chop in some modern ones so we can see the difference. Makes the car 3000GT like though lol. |
someone pshop sidepipes ala viper... :D
|
I like it; I kinda like the more euro look. Nice photoshop skills.

I think a clean center exit exhaust with the proper diffuser would look better. I also think the tilted usual fart can is better suited since it is a Japanese car trade mark sort of. |

i would have never thought about quad exhaust if i didnt have a diffuser.
but with the RE-A PRO diffuser or the sanai one, quad exhaust just seems to make the car look more complete and modern and it won't add much weight depending on what catbacks you go with |
I would buy it if there was a kit.
great job photo shopping the design. |
yea if only there was a kit
thanks, time well spent during work

Definitely reminiscent of a 300zx or 3000GT.

Though, I am turned off by the necessity of installing a fuel cell just to make an exhaust work. Not to mention the piping to the driver side muffler would be tricky. Possibly more easily accomplished with a single muffler with dual tips on each end. Think of the 350z muffler with dual tips on each side instead of singles. There just isn't much room under there for piping... |
I like it a lot a lot. With the diffuser at least it adds more of an aggressive look.

ahh yeah good idea.... single muffler, then pipe over to the other side and add tips. keeps the weight low, gives the dual look......it just wont help the noise, if that was important. |
Since the second exhaust doesn't do anything performance wise, why not just add the "tips" on the left hand side ;)
 |

Maybe a modified RX8 exhaust setup?

Racing Beat makes good exhausts; I know, I have one. My FC has a dual exhaust.
I'd love to see an FD with a dual setup, too. Racing Beat can be heavy and pricy, (just for shipping.) Zhe, consider parts from Vibrant Performance and get something customized. Grab a resonator, y-pipe and two turbo mufflers with dual tips. You won't have to pay for shipping from California to Canada, since they are local. And it may turn out to be just as quiet and maybe lighter than RB. But it's not a kit, and it sounds like you'll need a new gas tank. |
^ I see the potential for much blacker bumper ;)
Personally, I wouldn't do it simply because there is no value added. But many people get their car to a level where their innovative creation can be afforded and want to try knew things....ala Gordon. In that case, crack a beer, turn your hat sideways and "GO FOR IT BRO"!! :D |
its very functional, as long as the fuel tank is replaced with a fuel cell, you will have room for another oval style muffler which should keep the noise level down to the legal limit for most exhaust noise laws, but still have 4" exhaust flow and keep a more subtle look to the rear end.
the combination of the 3 reasons above is why i want to go this route. as far as i can see, this is the only way to have a 4" exhaust without comprising noise AND having that cop magnet 5" single exhaust tip look oh, the downpipe to midpipe will be 4" and then splits into a Y which will be 2 separate 3" pipes into the RB muffler and then out the tips and yes, i know this will cost a lot, and a lot of you will say that the money is not worth the result, but its the same as one spending 6000$ on wheels for a stock rx7 and another spending the same amount on interior. |
