Q? related to water injection
ok, first off this is my first new thread in the 3rd gen section. I recently sold my 2nd gen:tear: and have been watching the 3rd gen forum for a while. So I'd like to say what's up from a soon 2 be 3rd gen owner!
getting down 2 business here, I have read quite a bit about water/methanol injection on this forum, and it seems like a great solution (on top of others) to reduce intake temps and risk of detonation. I'm by no means an expert (so no flames please), but would NO2 be a viable alternative to a WI setup, were it used solely for the purpose of lowering intake temps? It seems to me that the simple fact that NO2 contains more Oxygen than a system using H2O (if my 2 years of chemistry aren't failing me here) would be reason enough to substitute it. Not to mention the incredibly low exit temps that result from it's compression-decompression upon it's exit from the bottle. If I'm way off here, tell me. But i have a feeling that this would work(sure it's been done b4 just haven't seen it discussed here). (puts flame suit on) and no, I'm not a ricer...lol |
Lowering intake temps yes, but it doesn't absorb heat during the combustion process -it actually adds heat and raises chamber pressures = less stability = closer to detonation.

why though, what is the difference in no2 vs water when it comes to chamber pressure?
