Push start Q?(S2000)

I have searched and read all the posts but im still unsure, this is my first electrical experience on my own.
Quote."You will need to open the switch to verify exactly which leads go where and compare them the wiring diagram that we have provided, double check the configuration. We cut off the plastic (used for the factory S2000 harness) surrounding the 5 leads with the Dremel tool. We cut off the two leads that are not used inside the button in order to allow more room to connect wires to the remaining 3 leads (which you will notice is not that much room, we actually bent them slightly apart too)." (fd3s.net)
I'm looking at the diagram but how to i tell with 2 on the end to remove/not use, I'm I supposed to place the peice that expands to hold it in on the bottom or top or do i open it up further and look... for what?

Your help is appreciated.

I didnt cut off the plastic harness. I used a floppy power drive connector which fits perfect in the harness. Once you open up the switch by removing the white plastic sleeve you know which leads you need by pressing the button.

Ok to check with you, I cut off the plastic where the metal ends, correct? Pressing the button, I do not follow you. I look for what when i press the button?

when i did mine i didnt cut anything off the switch. Once you open the switch by not cutting it you can press the start button and see which contacts it goes to. Or just use the floppy drive connecter, wire everything up and try to start it with the connector on 1st 3 pins if it doesnt start try the other pins.

Thank you for the link thats a nice write-up. Regarding taking apart the dash i seem to be stuck on disconnecting the lighter is that just a 2 button connector?

after some looking I found it my self, here it is...

Also for those who read this if you have A-pillar gauges (i got the 2 pods) removing these will help out alot and may need to be removed to take the whole body of the instrument cluster off(mine did). Start at the top and pull
I would also suggest that you put a towel over top of the steering colum on the top so that the front of the instrument cluster does not get scrathed well trying to remove connectors or the entire peice.
Thanks for your help including boosted94, www.clubrx.org was very helpful in removing the dash.
