Pulsation Damper
 

How much should it cost to get this damn thing replaced? I have recently fallen victim to this dreaded virus. I looked at the shop manual and it looks like alot of labor involved.

Yeah, it's a pain in the ass. The damn thing doesnt cost much (~$120), but the labor is expensive.

Probably like $200-300, depending on the mechanic.

I thought I remembered someone saying it was around $700 total for parts and labor for the job.

As mentioned, you could probably do a search and see what other people have been charged that didn't DIY.

My mechanic charged me $340 parts and labor, and that's when I had the LIM gasket replaced and the manifolds off. I think it costs more w/o the LIM job.

Check or replace the injectors o ring while you are doing the job. They are prone to failure too.

Yeah that 340 sounds good to me too. Where are u located, probably in Cali huh. I would love for it to be around that range. 700 sounds way to high. I will just do it myself if its gonna cost that much.

The part is around $120-$170 just for the dampner and the o-ring. The labor involved is intensive, you have to remove the upper intake manifold, throttle-body, intake elbow, coils, fuel lines, coolant lines, vacuum lines, and solenoids. If your going in there you might as well change the vacuum hoses to silicon or viton. Also check your injectors or have them balanced and cleaned by RC. I would definately change the rubber insulators that sit below the primary injectors, and check and or change your injector o-rings. If your decent with a wrench and take your time, you definately can do the job yourself.

So $340 is not going to be the price you pay unless you have already done some of the work..

I guess I got a good deal since my manifolds were off anyway. He normally charges $550 for the job I think. I'm in N Cal. PM me if you need more info.

I'm doing this job on a 93 Touring right now. It isn't just a quick job. Like hapa said, you have to remove just about everything off the top of the motor. While your in there do the injector seals and might as well do a vacuum hose job too. There isn't a lot of additional labor once you've gone that far and those things probably need attention soon anyway.

I can't see a shop doing it for $340, $75/hr shop rate where I live...
