Pulling engine
 

Alright guys, me and my bro have been working on my engine for roughly 6 hours now. I swear to god every connection has been unhooked and the engine is just hanging. How the hell do we separate the engine from the tranny, we tried pulling the engine, shaking it, everything.... Should I bust out the crowbar? I really dont know what the hecks goin on, it feels like somthing is connected, are there some bolts that Im not aware of? All the visible bolts that connect engine to tranny have been removed, there were like... 6 or 5 of them.

Yes, the engien is being suspended by a cherry picker.

Any advice on good jacking points?

We have it jacked by the too like engine hooks I guess you could say, one on the UIM and the other just on the engine chillin around where the alternator would be.

Have you removed the view ports on the bell housing and used a big ass screwdriver to pop the retaining ring off of the throw out bearing to separate the Tranny from the clutch? Just a thought
If you cant get to the snap ring or don't know what I am referring to than you can always remove the six bolts that bolt the pressure plate to the flywheel.

hmm......... retaining ring, is this located in between the tranny and the block? We have it about an inch apart, I can prolly get a flat head down there if I need to... i'm so feaking close its not even funny, I want to rip the damng thing out... My brother is more technically inclined than my self but hes sleeping, can somone give me like a more specific idea as to where this ring is located? Where are the 6 bolts located that you speak of?

Im having the same problem at this moment. I didnt have any luck with the throw out bearing thing so now Im removing the 6 bolts on the clutch cover.
Threw service hole b, I can look up and the clutch isnt attached to the flywheel or anything else, it will rotate without turning anything.
I got my info from the shop manuel:trany removal. Im thinking that the way i have done it is just for removaing the trany

It shows you what some things look like(clutch cover, wire ring ect ect>))

the throwout bearing (ring) is behind the clutch and in front of the pressure plate (between them), if you can push the clutch up to the flywheel and stick the screwdriver in there and try to pry out that ring, there are teeth on the pressure plate, go inbetween those with the screwdriver and pry...good luck

well, I have the 6 bolts off and I accidently pulled the wire ring out to.
Anybody know how to do the 6 clutch cover bolts do they, explain to me so I can make sure Im doing it right.

so if I remove these 6 bolts the clutch will disengage and Ill be able to pull the engine out?

if you take out the 6 bolts it will separate. i would recommend the other method though. just push the fork back with your left hand through service hole 1 and stick a big screwdriver through service hole 2 to hold back that ring. then release the fork while holding the ring in place. you should then feel it come loose when the fork moves back into place. then just pry from service hole 2 until the fork part snaps back. surprisingly it does not take very much force at all when doing these things right. keep at it because it is hard the first time but you'll be able to do it in 10s later.

when you remove the bolts from the pressure plate, How do you get the shaft out of the motor??? I have done everything and when I get ready to lift the motor the whole damn car lifts. The motor mount blots are removed, the trany bolts are removed, what else???

Engine is out, we got pictures of the final pull, its a mess...... first step is rebuilding the turbos!!! what do you guys think, should we learn and rebuild the engine our selves or pay somone else to do it??!? we've gotten so far on our own.

I'm located in Ventura...Port Hueneme to be exact.
If you are planning on rebuilding you motor yourself I would like to offer my two hands and 9 and a half fingers to help and learn with you. IMO if you are going to do N E porting I would send it out. Porting these motors is very critical.
