Pulled Few Engine Codes = (

26 metering oil pump stepper motor
27 Metering oil pump
50 Solenoid valve - double throttle control

Can I still drive it?
I hope these problems can be fixed easily... :(

You are probably in limp mode. If you have to drive it I would run some pre mix to be on the safe side.

vudoodoodoo Nov 21, 2002 09:49 AM

What's pre mix?

Hyperite Nov 21, 2002 10:47 AM

2-cycle oil mixed in with your gasoline. 8oz / tank should be enough for a failed OMP.

I had the same thing on mine last, & replaced the metering oil pump. If you have to go the same route, try to look for a used one as a new one costs about $1400.00. Good luck

Do a search in the 3rd gen section on premix and MMO. You will find loads of info.

$1400??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you type one too many 0's?
Hmm I think the shop manual shows you how to rebuild it...

Cool thanks.

Ok. I dropped my car off at the body shop yesterday. Still having that damn check engine light on.
I didn't get any MMO yet. I found an Autozone nearby that carries it though.
I plan on getting some on Saturday and dropping by the shop to put some MMO in the tank.
The question is: Is my car going to be OK if they need to drive it? They are only gonna need to move it to get it on a lift and then moving it back outside to park.

vudoodoodoo Nov 22, 2002 11:10 AM

In the meantime, I will do more research on this...

Is your car in limp mode? I'd be surprised if it isn't. I had a code 27 (or maybe it was 26?). I ended up replacing the metering oil pump. I bought one off of a forum member who went with a Haltech. Yeah, new they are like $1400, and I don't think they can be rebuilt.

vudoodoodoo Nov 22, 2002 12:40 PM

Yeah I think it's in limp mode.
I talked to someone I know who has an FD and knows his shit. He said it should be fine to move the car around w/o having premix.
Gonna grab some MMO tomorrow.

paw140 Nov 22, 2002 12:46 PM

I don't think moving the car is a big deal. It's not like your engine bearings are getting starved for oil, just the apex seals. And thats assuming that the pump completely stopped working. It might be working right now, but the position sensor or something is messed up.

Check wiring out before replacing the pump, i had a wiring problem once that was throwing OMP codes...

I'll take a look at it when I get it back from the shop.
