Proper way to flush your coolant system?

Anyone know the proper was to flush your coolant system?

I was thinking that the best way would be to drain the rad and res. Then popping off the coolant return line from the Rad and placing a garden hose in the fillerneck, then start the car and turn on the water...let then car run till all the water runs clear ( with the heater on ).. would this work? Any input would be appreciated.

Drain it from the radiator. Drain it from the block. The block radiator bolt is on the lower drivers side of the block. Fill the radiator with 70% distilled water and 30% coolant and burp properly.

Rotaries are subject to internal cooling-passage corrosion, especially if tap (hard or soft) water is used, even if corrosion inhibitors are added. The best water to use is distilled. You also need to flush with distilled water, because you can never drain all the water in the system, so if you flush with tap water, even if you do the final fill with distilled, some tap water will remain in the system to cause corrosion.

I would not try to run the car with a hose in the return line. If you want to do a thorough flush, drain the block, and radiator. You can flush the radiator with a garden hose. To flush out the block, you will need to remove the thermostat. Flush the block with your garden hose until everything is clean. After completeing this, flush the block and radiator at least two more times with distilled water. You want to remove all of the tap water. Refill everything with about a 2 to 1 ratio of water to coolant.
