Projected Mods For My Build
I am starting to plan my motor build for my 93 FD I picked up a few months ago. Here is what I am looking to do. This car will be a weekend warrior which I will take to the track for fun. Looking for input on my list of mods / parts that I am looking to do. Any feedback or advise would be helpful.

are the 1200's re-bored 850's like 1300's are, or are they manufactured as a 1200cc injector? If they are re-bored, i'd definitely think about going with something that isn't re-bored to a larger volume, as they've been known to fail. Besides, that, list looks good. You may want to go with dual oil coolers if you don't already have them (you didn't specify if you had a base/touring or a R1 package on your FD). Good luck with the build and keep us updated.
Oh, and what are you doing for suspension? Take a look at Howard Coleman's suspension setup guide in the suspension section. I don't own a FD (yet, FB ofr now), but it's been an extremely informative read as it's progressed. |
Sorry the car is a touring. Only has the single oil cooler. I have not decided what to do with the suspension as of yet. Will probably end up going with a set of TEINS. I am taking my time with the build and buying parts as money allows. I am focusing on all the Internal mods which are not easily upgraded once the motor is sealed. Still debating on an aluminum flywheel too. I cannot find side feed injectors larger than 850's. I will look harder tho.

nice mod list, IMO if your doing all that work might as well go single, 90% of the time its what happens when you get used to the 300rwhp range.
if you go single make the 2ndary 850s yoru primary and then get a set of 1600's 2ndar, wire fule pump mod, good FPR, etc... Also what is your goal for the car, steet only, track moster on the weekend, road racing? i see you mention weekend and track, what type of track? that will get you a better guilded answer and mod list that has been tried and test true. tony |
It will most likely just be run at the drag strip. I have never done autocross and I am not sure of any local tracks. I want to try an keep the st ock sequental turbos and possibly down the line go with BNR's I am not going for huge HP numbers. Well for now anyway.

Add a lightweight flywheel to your clutch pack. I love my 9.5lber, made a noticeable difference in the engine's responsiveness.
