Profec B vs Apexi AVC-R
 

Profec B
Pros: Cheaper, Easier
Con: Not as many functions as the Apexi

Apexi
Pros: 2d Mappable and has many functions
Con: a bit more pricey, and more difficult to use

Any comments before I make my choice??
I want quick spooling for my non-seq twins.

I say go Profec B for the reason you listed. As for the con, you won't miss the missing functions.

AVCR is a little difficult to use but it works great once you fig out how to use it. i would perfer avcr but if u like easy stuffs, profec is way to go...

I heard I can spool faster with the AVCR.

Shift to the power band is ok, but sometimes I drag race I would like a quick spool. =P

If you want quick spool, why did you go non-sequential?

I don't see how the AVC-R can spool the twins faster than the Profec. They work the same way. Don't buy into the hype.

profec b because it looks nicer and its a lot smaller and cheaper.

if you have the money and can find someone that knows how to set up an AVC-R, then get it. if not, just get the profec b. its easy to set up, and works fine.

If you have the money get the AVCR. More functions, better looking. Otherwise the profec b shall do the job.

Since you are already in the price range...I would recomend the blitz, I got the SBC-ID (mine was $480), quicker spool than ecu controlled boost (sorry never had any aftermarket boost control before), and never spikes at all or creaps. Plus one of those imoprt magazines did a review and saw that the blitz had the quickest spool. Also has an awesome look, better than my S-AFC did which has the same type of display as the AVCR.

I agree with rdavidrx7, after all the SBC-ID is a dual solenoid. But if your choices are AVCR or Profec B, it's how much you are willing to spend.

I have the profec B....Love it..And really how many damn boost settings do you need anyway....I leave mine in the din and it rarely gets touched...Only when the temp changes and I have to dial the boost down or up a bit...Profec works like a charm and is going to be used with my single setup.

i dont like the avcr becuase of the bling bling factor. i dont need broken windows.

All this talk about quicker spool...you won't notice the difference. If you drag, your rpms will be up there on the launch anyway.

Im just talking for intial launch, I know I should barely have a problem since Im nearly running straigh pipe with no restriction.

I went non-seq because the seq system after 5 months of diagnosis it still didnt want to work.

i have the avcr. i think its terrific. prior to i had the profec a, and that sucked. the avcr can SEEM overwhelming at first but its really not that bad. there are sites that help you tune the avcr and give suggestions on how to tune. it has a nice memory mode that can record your peaks, and has some great functions. it looks terrific. i have mine under the sterio.

Profec A was never good with a rotary was it? In any case I guess it really comes down to what you reall need/want. From the board, looks like AVCR is more to your liking.

Blitz SBC-ID gets my vote :)

Lots of functions if you have the time to learn how to use them. It could be possible to gain some hp on the lower band (while spooling) if you set it up right.

honestly its not that hard. I dont really get how it got such a bad rap. it may seem a little confusing at first but after reading the manual and trying it, it takes little effort to adjust.

im sure either one does a good job controlling boost but i think its worth the extra cash to get the AVC-R, its a better looking product when its integrated into your interior. contrary to popular belief, its easy to use once you see how it functions, took me about 4hours to install and dial in everything myself and some help from the internet. i had the old profec B in another car and it worked good, but didnt offer as much as the AVC-R. im asuming the new profec b offers new features but i still would go with the AVC-R.
