The problems NEVER END!!!!!!!
 
Took FD into shop for coolant problem. I just bought the car and remembered it was low on gas so I went and got some gas for it and brought the gas back and went to open the gas tank and I pushed the lever sideways and it didn't open the tank.

I'm thinking I'll never get the car to work.

Any ideas?

take out the rear hatch platics and pull the cord and open the hatch manually. Should be able to see whats going on from there.

You do know you have to pull the lever UP after sliding it sideways, right?

And dude, you've got no right posting that thread title after owning an FD for less than a week, LOL. If you're this freaked out already, I don't predict a happy ownership experience for you.

Hasn't freaked me out. It takes a lot to freak me out.

I tried pushing it, moving it sideways and pulling up, maybe I just did it wrong but I thought I tried everything.

I am hacked off because I bought it sight unseen (I know I know bad idea) and the guy completely lied about the condition of the car and is now not answering e-mails or home phone or cell phone. I also had the car inspected by a mechanic and the condition of the car was not accurately stated from the report I received.

I expected to have a car that required lots of work but I have owned it less than 24 hours and it's been in the shop that entire time, kind of sucks for a car that was running when I bought it.

Shit man, you think youve got problems. Your in for a surprise. Ive owned my car for a year and a half...And out of that time its been running maybe 4-5 months...And when its running Ive had every boost problem under the sun. Let alone other things.

Hope you can get shit straightened out though...

OH ya and I forgot.

I can roll down both windows with the drivers control but the passenger window will only roll up with the passenger control....

I really hope my engine doesn't blow for awhile. If it does I'll probably just get someone to push it off a bridge and claim on insurance.

For the little time the car was running the engine had very small power, I'm hoping its a vacuum hose problem or solenoid.

What year is your car? The models most be different because for the gas tank push the lever right then down, pretty much any direction up and the trunk pops.

So far, the problems aren't no where as big as what it could possibly. Fortunately, some of the problems you have now seem to be wear-n-tear types but on much small scale. Heh, I'm still facing some issues and I've had mine for a year now. Fortunately, my issues now aren't as big anymore but I did go through some huge maintenence costs first few months of owning car that has totaled up to $3,500 in repairs alone...not performance mods. She's much better now than back then at least. :)

With this car, can only expect something to happen at any moment.

I knew when I posted that I would pick the wrong direction. :D I'm a creature of habit, I open the gas hatch without thinking about it and then can't remember which way it works...:wallbash:

I'm not going to sell it. I bought the car intending for it to be a project car, I just intended for the seller of not lied to me about it.

The coolant issue should be fixed tomorrow and I am graduating soon so I'll be getting some money from that for new radiator and yada yada yada.

When the car was running (for about 1 minute) it had NO power. I've read on here that people post they have no power and everyone screams blown engine. I started thinking about it though and the car idles fine, has a very smooth power band and doesn't lose power till past 7k RPMs, it just doesn't have any extra power when twins go parralell.

After I get the coolant hose fixed I'll replace the vacuum lines to silicone which should of been done years ago and check the pre spool solenoid and see if that wont fix it.

Good luck with everything. If you end up needing solenoids or check valves, let me know. I have a bunch sitting in the garage (I have non-seq turbos).

My first engine blew after 2 days. After 3 engines I was rotored out.

I can only imagine how many engines some of the guys on this forum have gone through. I would imagine that there are atleast a few people who have gone through 5 or more. if nothing else it's dedication.

Well I'm sitll on my first engine and FAR from rotored out. I realized that the shop put coolent in my car without getting rid of the air which was causing my high temps and other problems. I burped the air out and put a ton more coolent in and it is running 10000 times better. It still feels like it doesn't have the power that it should. Going to check vacuum lines and solenoids. Maybe the twins are getting ready to call it quits.

I'm sorry I wasn't suggesting that you should ditch the rotary. I was just sharing my experience. I think you should stick with whatever makes you happy. If you are good to the car she'll be good back, most of the time anyway ;o)

Oh I knew you weren't. I'm expecting this car to be bitchy at times, I'm prepared for it, I'm not sure about my wallet but I am.

Saw a bunch of friends today who hadn't seen the car and they were all freaking out. Most didn't know what it was and thoght it was some exotic. I think I'm going to debage the rx7 to keep them guessing.

i bought my car two and a half years ago. i havent even turned the key yet. thats right i have never driven it. oh i forgot to mention the motor was blown. also its getting tuned next week by gotham racing so its all good. but driving the car for 1 hour in a week is more than i have driven mine in two years.

I have 115,000 miles on my 93 and I'm still on my first engine. Its coming out now even though it still runs great to make room for my 20B. I run the car very hard and never baby it. I upgraded the fuel system when I first bought it and since then I've gone through 6 clutches, 4 sets of tires and one diff. I run my engines rich to prevent detenation and plan on doing the same to the 20B. The key to not killing you engines is not letting them lean out or over heat. :anger:
