Problems after Poor mans conversion no boost
 

Hi,

Just a little background info on the car. Its a RHD nintey two thats just recently had a full oem rebuild, to which i added a Greddy SMIC, RE Amemiya B type ecu and a walbro 255lph.

I had it running for a while like that and it was fine, albeit pig rich.

I figured it would be a good thing to change the injectors to cleaned and flowed stockers as they are a little old. So after getting a set from Rotary experiment Seven i installed those along with a Sard adjustable FPR and gauge.

I was also getting the dreaded owl in the engine bay so i decided to do a poormans nonseqential. I wired up the flapper and removed the tca, disconnected the vacuum hoses from the precontrol actuator (the one below the wastegate actuator) disconnected the vacuum hoses from all the solenoids but left them plugged in electrically.

I did the conversion and the fuel work at the same time. After i let it warm up i set the fuel pressure to 3bar at idle and took it for a spin. Whenever it would reach positive pressure the car would just start to break up and lose power.

I rechecked all the vacuum connections and all is well, i dont have any boost leaks at all and all the electrical plugs are plugged in.

Anyone gone through something similar?

did you accidentally tie open the wastegate actuator instead of the precontrol actuator?

im pretty sure i didnt, i dropped the lowest actuator, the one i see in pictures of the conversion and wired that door open

i would recheck the fuel, perhaps when the fuel pressure regulator is seeing boost it ups the pressure way too much, flooding out the engine. Just a thought since you sat it happens as soon as you come onto boost.

well i adjusted the base fuel pressure to three and four bar and it showed no improvment. Im going to try swapping back to the stock ecu tommorow but any insight is still appreciated:icon_tup:

i unplugged the ecu and plugged it back in...voila. I am relieved it was a simple fix.
