problem with bleeding
ok guys come time to make a post to get more ideas or input. problem im having is I cannot for the life of me to get my 94 fd to bleed the coolant system. symptons are air is not blowing hot just luke warm, when revving you can hear water (coolant) rushing through the heater core. I have bleed the system probable 4 to 5 times. process is starting the car cold and placing my coolant bleeding funnel on the thermostat housing since the ast has been deleted, letting the car get to full operation temperature when the thermostat is suppose to be opening and watching for bubbles to bleed. I have no coolant leaks I can find and the car is not losing coolant. does not have any problems overheating or starting nor any smoke. any input would be great!:egrin:

What is your radiator and coolant hose setup like? Throttle body coolant eliminated? What temperature are your fans coming on at?
Throttle body coolant has been eliminated as I bought it that way. The fans are on a toggle I usually turn them on if temp gets to 80c. I was just bleeding it again and sounds and feels like coolant is boiling in upper radiator hose
80C isn't really hot enough to get the air out. leave them off until 90 at least until you bleed the system.
When I am bleeding I let it get to 90-94c
Try jacking the front of the car up. Sometimes it helps air get out.
i normally fill to top and disconnect the rear plate hose to get coolant coming out from that hose i do it to the rx8 as well all cold never had a problem go for run then check tank usally takes a little more
have you had a coolant loss prior to this ? also is water flowing threw matrix ? |
No coolant leaks that I have seen and no coolant lost. Bled the car for about 30mins today and flushed the heater core but still no real difference. Both hoses going in and out of heater core are hot and I still continue to have the upper radiator hose boiling inside but nowhere else? Possible bad thermostat or radiator not flowing good?

OK, lets start from the beginning;
Was everything OK, or was there a leak or other problem that was repaired, and you opened the system, and now can't get it bled? Or, did it just start having problems (running hot, no heat, gurgling sounds) and you can't fix it by bleeding? If this all just started happening it's a good chance you are pushing combustion gasses into the cooling system from bad coolant seals or a cracked housing or something. If it just happened after you worked on it, it could be that your modifications and deletions have made it so the air is trapped. In this case your going to have to closely examine the system to figure out where the air pocket/s are and disconnect hoses as necessary to get the air out. Keep in mind the radiator lays in at an angle that can trap air if the bleed hoses are disconnected or re-routed. |
Blender door or heater valve issue?
No heater valve in the fd but if the blender door is stuck or heater core clogged you may not have heat. Also you never really get hot air out of the center vents. Put it on defrost or floor and see if it makes a difference. Some stupid 90's logic that hot air in the face makes you sleepy when driving.
I had a similar issue in my 94' car the first time I tried using the heat. In order to get any heat I have to turn it to the floor or the windshield/ defrost. I thought for weeks that something was wrong and chased a problem that wasn't really there.
Try turning the knob to the floor only, get the motor hot and see if you get any warm air out of those floor vents. By the way, in my car I wouldn't call it hot air, but it is warm air. Warm enough to call it heat. But no where near as hot as any other 'normal' vehicle would put out. |
Has had this problem for about a year and a half now
Find someone that has a block tester kit to check for combustion gasses (CO2) in the cooling system.
I don't think your problem has anything to do with bleeding.

Dont supose half the matrix is blocked do u
Try pouring boiling kettle water straight threw the heater matrix * take both hoses off face them upwards fill to top turn heater on see if u get hot air threw ur vents if u do then ur matrix is fine May need few trys to keep the matrix hot as cools very quick |
