Price ranges for stock FD's currently?
 

So I recently sold off my Corvette and finally have the means to get ahold of an FD. I have started getting a feel for the FD market since I'm now shopping for one.

There's not a lot of real stock ones left out there so it's hard to sort through the prices but it looks like a nice condition, stock FD should be priced about 12-15k depending on mileage and condition. Is this about right for current prices?

Also, if anyone could be so kind.. I would like to have some pictures of a stock engine bay so I know what to be looking for and make sure nothing is missing.

12-15k should get you what you want. 100k miles and a new motor for 12k ish and a low mileage car with a new motor around 14-15k.

I got a 94 with 75k miles, stock except for an AST and downpipe. I'd let it go for around $13k.

I didn't do that when I bought the Corvette I had and it came back to bite me in the butt so I'm going to be a lot more picky and patient this time!

Good move on the being patient part. The most common changes to an engine bay would be intake and aluminum AST so that would be the first thing to look for.

It was also before 10 hours of paint correction and pdr, as well as several minor fixes and repairs associated with a 17 year old car, but whatever.

To stay on topic. A clean stock, or close to stock, relatively low mile car is going to be in the 12-15k range with exceptions. More for a 94-95 as there were improvements that make them more desirable. Also, rare cars like CYM, White, Silver on red etc... will fetch a premium. Best thing to do is read the forum, and if you find examples you want 'priced' post the information here and the more experienced buyers and owners can tell you what they'd pay. There are several people here, myself included that have owned 20+ of these cars, we'll tell you with pretty decent accuracy what they're worth :)

Not sure if you can call it a good deal, but I test drove that car and had the chance to buy it for 9k, just decided not to. Plus I will never make money off of another forum member, but that's just me.

And seriously, lets lay off knocking the guy for trying to make some money. If the car is worth 13k it's worth 13k I don't really care how much HE paid for it, what matters is that I get what I'm looking for ;)

I realize I will never own an fd again. Cant justify the prices now considering what I got mine for etc.

i just bought a bone stock 93 SSM with red interior for 7K 103K on the body unknown mileage on the remain, literally drives like a new car. buying a stock FD depends on condition, engine mileage and over all condition, i was lucky and mine drives like a new car, ice cold AC great working turbo system and so on i pretty much stole that car.

I got mine for 14k, 94 chaste white touring, black interior, 5 spd, 81,000 miles, greddy FMIC kit, full greddy catback,greddy elbow,Koyo rad and pfc...pretty close to stock veryyy cleann and exactly what I saving up and looking for the past 12 years. Good luck!

Really, I guess it depends on the intent of the car. This guy doesn't seem like he wants to refinish his interior, replace his motor mounts, yadda yadda.

For what it's worth. I just picked up a 94 that needs one or more of everything. But, I was in the mood for a rescue.

OP, $12-15k should get you a well sorted out runner. Be picky. There's a new batch of cars for sale every month. Read the FAQ's while you're looking for the one you like.

I don't recommend anyone buy an FD ever. The only people who should own this car, are those too crazy and determined to be convinced otherwise. These things will consume you. I'm a non-recovering rotary addict.

Heh, I prefer the smooth 93 plastic over the textured 94 ones, and the full tan interior over the black. But I don't have a scratch on any of the plastic and the tan leather is in excellent shape :)

I think you fellas might be slightly optimistic on prices unless you are talking about late year only
the FD is getting quite old which is regrettable but part of the progress of life

if it was me, personally, I would look into getting a new car if I had at least 25k to burn
we recently purchased a 2010 rx8 for my honey and we looked at the hyundai genesis coupe, miata and 370z
I tried selling my FD for 11,ooo in texas a few years ago and all i got was low ball offers
someone even wanted to trade me an integra...
anyway, you need to find the right car and the right buyer/seller which can be time consuming.

oh, and btw, the stock 370z is a freaking monster but way too dangerous for a daily driver in my opinion, the visibility in the thing is ridiculous.
