Pressure/Vacuum tester for 3rd Gen
I'm looking for a kit that will pressure test a 3rd gen cooling system, and hopefully double up to test the vacuum parts too. Under $100 unless more is easily justified.
Do standard radiator pressure kits fit the FD filler neck? Dave |
a vaccuum tester is relatively cheap at your local auto parts store so i would not worry about that.
a coolant pressure tester will run you around $100 i think but you also need to get an adapter for the filler neck on our cars. depending on how fancy you want this stuff to get it will cost around $150-$200 from what i bought. make sure you call to ask the tool store if they have what you need. you probably won't find this tool at your typical auto parts store. you need more of a specialty tool store. |

Any other suggestions? |
No on the standard.
Mity-vac makes a kit under $100 ($60-70?) but you have to source the adapter for the filler neck, unless you have an aftermarket AST, which would have a standard filler neck. Adapter was sourced from Snap-On, but I'm sure there are other alternatives (cheaper, for sure). Handy thing to have, used it to t-shoot a car that tended to get too hot and push coolant out (rad cap was leaking). Regards, --Ashraf |
How much pressure would u need to apply to the cooling system to check it.

The pressure tester kit I rented from Autozone worked fine. If you have an aftermarket AST, then you don't need a special adapter (an all-stock FD requires one).
