Preparing for single conversion...
 

I am going through another rebuild at this time...I will be going single very soon and want to make sure I make the retrofit process as simple as possible.

What can I do when installing my twins (great shape btw!) to make a later transition to single easier?

Remove heat shields? Anything to allow for better access to manifold bolts? Definitely will use antisieze...

Why don't you just wait? That's alot of work to install then take out and put a new setup in if you're working in short time period.

Ok wait is an option...but doesnt answer my question.

Mostly the heat shields would think would be something I could leave out short term.

Running non seq. is good if aren't already like that. That will mean much less to take out later. The heatshields, you probably don't need.

Are you doing the work or someone else? If its a shop then just tell them your plans and they will leave out anything you don't need. If its you, then use your judgement. ;)

I try to do all the work myself....and yes I will ultimately use my own judgement but am looking for others feedback who have had difficulty removing the twins...access issues and such...

I would do it all at once or not at all if you are going to do it yourself. It's just a huge PIA! Make sure you replace the studs, and torque to all the right specifications. I would could block off plates and weed out a lot of the unnecessary crap while you can,

I have done the turbo simplification and been running it for sometime. I am mostly concerened with accessing the manifold bolts with the stock turbos installed.

But looks like maybe I need to commit to single before motor installation. I am not concerned about redoing the hoses...it mostly the manifold bolts that simply come out of the block rather than the nuts.
