Preparing a 13b-rew for shipment and storage

I will be picking up a fully assembled 13b-rew (no trans) this up coming weekend. Wondering what is the best/safest way to transport it without damanging it.

Laying it on its side on a pallet?

May seem like a fantastically silly question, but last thing I need is to damage my new power plant by doing something as stupid as laying it down the wrong way.

Also... once I get the engine home it will be in storage for a while until my current motor goes, no more than a year. Any tips on storing it?

Worth noting its only going to be going on a 6 hour drive, then itll be on an engine stand for a while

I've transported mine on an old tire and strapped it to the tire with ratchet tie downs.

Either put it in a Rubbermaid bin or set on an old tire and strap to a pallet. I recommend keeping it right side up as it sits in the car. Make sure to tape up all openings and cover it with a garbage bag or something if it will be outside.

Rotary Resurrection home of the budget rebuild.

However, i have also saw-zalled a cutout for the oilpan in a pallet that i was moving in the back of my own truck, then ratchet scrapped it down from there.

Thanks for alll the feedback guys!

My main concern really was damaging the oil pan
