Power Fc and FPR solenoid, found something
 

ok, i found something and wanted to share

i installed my power fc a couple of weeks ago. Everything is fine and the idle is very good. Only, sometimes, on hot start up, the idle would be really bouncy. I have a Fuel pressure gauge installed in my car and i found that everytime it does that, my fuel pressure is at 40 PSI, meaning that the FPR solenoid is open.

So if you have a lumpy idle sometimes with the Power Fc and still have that solenoid, you might want to remove it.

Just wanted to share, maybe it will help.

I knew there was a fuel pressure regulator (same as pulsation dampener??) but i didn't know there was a fuel pressure solonoid. What does it do, and why would it be OK to remove it???

well xstacy7. don't know if this is your problem but hope it helps.

the fuel pressure regulator has a nipple on top of it which goes to vaccum on the LIM. What is does is that when you are in vaccum (not on the pedal), the diaphragm opens the regulator which lowers the fuel pressure (32PSI) when you get 0 PSi, the fuel pressure is 40. When you have 10 PSI of boost , you get 10 PSI more fuel pressure so around 50 PSI because it closes the regulator which raises the fuel pressure.

Now when you start the car and it is already hot, there is a solenoid that bypasses the vacuum so that it sees 0 PSI instead of vaccum, meaning that you will have 40 PSI of fuel pressure instead of 32 PSI. I guess it helps the engine in some way to have more fuel on warm start up but don't know why.

a lot of people removed that solenoid and had no problem. I didn't have it before and i reinstalled it and it didn't change a thing. I am going to remove it again since it is the cause of my problem now.

That solenoid is there to help fix potential "hot start" issues. I disabled it and never had a problem.
