Potential buyer looking for whp estimate

Hey guys, I'm in the market for an FD and i'm trying to guesstimate the whp on one i saw the other day. Touring model, MT. Looked like it had the following done to it: modified intake with K&N filters, downpipe, rb dual catback, greddy smic (trust), silicone hosing, metal ast, alum radiator, aftermarket springs and boost controller.

The current owner said he didn't care much for going fast but just loved the looks of the car. Never had it on a dyno. Doesn't know much about rotarys or rx7s or all reliability issues (barely drove it, just loves the look of the car). He gets all his work done by a mech at a local shop and had them keep the boost at 10psi.

The FAQ thread lists 300 hp with "minor bolt-ons" (do those mods qualify as 'minor-bolt-ons'?), while the robinette site lists 360 flywheel hp with similar mods. I'm assuming those numbers are with the boost turned up higher though right??

What range of whp can i expect from the car @ 10psi? How about if its tuned up to @12-14psi? I know it depends on the tuning and whatnot, just trying to get some rough guesses. Mid 200s? High 200s? Right around 300?

Thanks for lookin

Boost at 12 psi, you can expect around 300 rwhp (350 crank hp). At 10 psi, around 270 rwhp or so. This assumes a healthy engine and turbos. The owner was smart to keep the main catalytic converter in place, that assures stable boost.

Thanks, that gives me a better idea. If i buy the car and take it to the dyno i'll look for those ranges.

+1, sounds right to me.

Good luck with the buy!
