Pops out of 1st gear.... Bad tranny???

HI,
So here is what’s going on. If i'm at a stop or what not and in first gear, IF I hammer on the gas, my car pops out of first gear and it no little pop it’s like a gun shot sounding pop. You can watch the gear shift slam out of gear...but.... if I take of in first and slowly roll on the throttle or give it like half throttle it stays in gears? You think the tranny is bad or do you think I have something lose. The weird part is my shifter depending how much gas I give it moves up and down quite a bit like I have axle wrap. Could that possible effect it, like my shifter is hitting the body or a boot or something?

Sounds like you have something broken in the driveline mounting.

I would start by inspecting your Power Plant Frame and your engine mounts.

I agree with Mahjik - if the shifter is moving around, look at the powerplant frame, engine mounts, and diff mounts.

You dont think it has to do with the tranny though? Because if i barly take off in 1st then shift to second or 3rd or 4th and hammer down it stays in gear, but if i try that in first boom it pops out...

First thing is first, the whole shifter should not be moving around. Start there first.
