Poor man's non-sequential

Any one gone non-sequential the poor man's way for long term? If so any downfall to it?

what is the poor mans way of going non sequential?

I don't want to call anyone a cheap ass, but an FD isn't your typical "poor man's" car.

I did it cuz I could easily switch back... I love it :bigthumb: not sure I want to switch back... but you never know. Hopefully I will be putting a single on in a year or so but until then the poor man's is fine with me.

The poor man's non-sequential is converting to non-seq without removing the rat's nest and welding. It's so you can go back to seq. I was wondering this because I started my hose job, I think I might want to go non-seq. I want to leave the solenoid rack out but I also do not want to do any welding. So it's a half poor man's half true non-seq way. Any input? Is this possible?

You can find the poor man non-seq at www.robrobinette.com.

Will there be any error codes or anything if you get rid of the solenoids with the stock ECU? Right now I have all my hoses plugged off to the solenoids, and it'd be nice just to ditch them.

Poor man's method is misnamed because both methods of converting to non-sequential are basically free. A better name might be half-assed vs. full fledged

I did mine halfway between half-assed and full fledged or true, I removed all the unneeded stuff like vac/pressure chambers, all the hoses, actuators, etc and ended up with a big box of crap. I cut out block off plates from 3/8" aluminum stock and removed the EGR, double throttle control, and other unneeded stuff. I left the solenoids without any hoses for the electical connection (I believe you can replace them with resistors with the same impedence to avoid tripping any error codes). The only thing I didn't do was remove the turbo's so the necessary components in the exhaust manifold could be welded/removed and wastegate enlarged, instead I firmly safety wired and will possibly put a spot weld from the outside so the wire is no longer needed this summer when shit thaws out.
