poly engine mounts
What are the options out there for poly mounts? All I've looked into are the Banzai ones. I don't have two steel mounts, so are there any "bolt in" options out there for me without having to buy another steel mount?
What is involved with mounting the banzai mounts onto the non-steel bracket. I am only aiming for 380whp, so if I got a torque dampner would it be possible best to go with OEM? I will be tracking the car a lot in the future, which is why I was looking into poly mounts first. Any advice/help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

i got a kit made by www.rotaryengine.com, i've only had them for about 300 miles, but they seem fine, not too stiff, but way better then stock. all i had to do was cut all of the rubber off of the stock aluminum mount and drill a hole through the middle.

nice. those look pretty good. I would assume for the banzai ones it's similar?... drill a hole through the aluminum one?

I bought the ones from Himini Racing and they allow the use of the aluminum mount. You cut the old rubber off the aluminum and then wire wheel the remainder off. All you have to do then is drill a hole.
The entire process took under an hour. |

i would assume so, but i dont think that they sell the mounts for you to do it yourself, pretty sure you have to send in your aluminum mount and they do the work for you. they might machine out the top of the mount to make a flat mounting surface like i did (see pics) because when the rubber is removed the top of the mount is bowl shaped which wouldnt be a very good mounting surface. i cut mine so that the washer sat flat with a dremel and about an hour of cutting.

Why not spend the money on a second steel arm? They're usually less than $40 shipped and you may not even need the ETB.

yea, i should have done that, i bought the poly mounts before i bought my new engine, the new engine came with stock left and right steel mounts...

Just go with some aluminum mounts. This is also a good time to add an oil pan brace and have the proper motor mounts installed to compensate for the 3/16" rise. PM Charles7 as he sold me some...

good point, i'm not too sure if the kit from rotaryengine.com compensates for the pan brace, i'd have to ask them. the pan brace in my pic is from them too.

and I'm not runing solid mounts... this is my DD. I need some sort of comfort... if any at all. |
You can not install the "steel mount option" on to an aluminum bracket. We require your aluminum core bracket so that we can modify it. As it states on our site, you would need to send it to us. http://www.banzai-racing.com/polyfd_motor_mounts.htm

:D... I read that part. I'm in Canada... and I would rather not send my stuff all the way to Indiana, so I'm trying to find the quickest and most cost effictive solution. I may after all just find a used steel one and buy your mounts for that option.

Banzai, what paint did you use the coat the aluminum motor mount? Looks quite BLING!

If you intend to install an oil pan brace, have the mounts milled 3/16" by most any machine shop. Personally I wouldn't do that if you were trying to use an aluminum arm, but there's plenty of strength to do that with the iron ones. |

I actually ended up going with the Noltec motor mounts with the Banzai Oil pan brace. In my opinion, its much less stressful just to buy a second steel motor mount then to modify the aluminum one. The Noltec mounts do not increase vibrations at all, but the ride DOES feel more tight and there is less shifter movement.
With 2 steel motor mounts, everything will be bolt on Attachment 709821 Attachment 709822 |
those ones look pretty nice I like how they are designed like the stock mounts, without the bolt runnign through them (which essentially makes it a partially solid mount).
I will look into these. |
