Plz need help asap!!

Ok Buddy of mine just hooked up my HKS turbo timer type1, we hooked up the harness on there, and grounded the wire and hooked up the gray wire to the ebrake... When we poped off not the steering colomn but the one underneath, 2 black wires came poping off, we had no idea where they came from or where they went or what they did, so we left them alone... Well now i think my fd is acting a little weird, my car used to idle anywhere from 1200 to 1500rpms, now it idles at 800 flat, it also feels like the turbo are being super loud and are kicking in way way way too early, on top of everything i went to cover up my car and exhaust pipe burned a hole right through the cover witch never happened before... can anyone please let me know what the problem is or if there is even a problem, by the way we never did hook up the RPM wire nor the red one i think it was, we only hooked up the harness, ground wire and ebrake, please help me out asap... thank you!

nope, you're screwed

Steve Abitbol 10-27-05 05:35 AM

anyone help me out with this plz?/

FDNewbie 10-27-05 06:36 AM

So lemme get this straight...

- Your idle went from 1200-1500 down to 800 flat
- The turbo is spooling very quickly at very low rpm
- The exhaust gets hot enough to burn items around it

... And you're complaining why? Sounds to me like you FIXED a problem your car has. 800rpm is normal idle. Turbos DO come on incredibly quickly and at low rpm (2300 to be exact). And if your exhaust doesn't burn your bumper, let alone any grass nearby where you park, you have issues.

I'd suggest you stop and read the FAQ's in the 3rd gen section, and get to know more about the car, and how it SHOULD run, and use that as a baseline...not how it runs when you bought it ;)

dude my car used to get beat by civics and now im smoking vipers! HELP ME find out whats wrong!

MrRx 10-27-05 08:34 AM

Umm, rammy I think he's not seeing the light here.

800 rpm is normal !
quick spool is normal !
very hot exhaust is normal !

not to sure how installing a turbo time (most useless device ever) would fix thoses problems but heh at least they did.

hahhahaha ok ok thanks i was just worried bout my baby since it was acting diffrently thats all.... thanks appreciate all the sarcasism and for the laughs

I thought the 1st turbo would start to spool at 1800 rpm's?
Mine did at least when I had my stock twins.

FDNewbie 10-27-05 12:07 PM

You can start spooling at any rev lol. But it won't reach full boost until 2300 - 2500 rpms

Primary is always spooled and ready to boost. How early, how hard, it starts pushing depends on a number of variables.

In any case, a turbo timer has nothing to do with these issues. Nothing.

well i meant when fdnewbie said that they come on at that rpm. i was getting postive boost at 1800 but not full boost. maybe thats what you meant. sorry

RotorJoe 10-27-05 04:58 PM

ok so hooking up a turbo timer fixed his high idle, boost problem and an exhaust problem.

Someone help me see how the hell the turbo timer can do that?????

Joe

FDNewbie 10-27-05 05:00 PM

Joe, it's not the turbotimer that fixed anything. They probably improved a previously messed up ground wire somewhere, that's all ;)

RotorJoe 10-27-05 05:06 PM

I knew it wasn't the turbo timer but I could figure out what else could casue those symtoms.

The groung problem is probably correct. I see now. The damn infamous grounding issues we have.

Thanks
