The below link is to a 1993 Base FD. GT35 single set-up. The only bad thing is it has no a/c. I have the funds, and I'm ready to buy NOW. What do you guys think? I purchased a lemon about a year ago (93 FD), and will not do it agian. I need some advice from my felow forum members. Thanks Alot. The seller wants 17,300 for it.

Tell me what you guys think. I will be test driving the car on Sat. By the way, the link directly above this post works, and sorry for the mis-type.

since it has been tuned by steve Kan, why not try asking steve if he knows anything about the car??? overall, looks good to me.

Force13B 06-02-05 05:13 PM

I think it looks very clean make sure and do a carfax and look at all the paper work he has on the car.

Just get the compression and dyno numbers--he could have beat the piss out of it.

Look forward to meeting you this weekend. I am Corey's business partner and I have been driving this car for the last week and havent had any issues with it. I have owned a little over 20 fds and the suspension on this one is the tightest by far. The Jimlab bushings make a huge difference. They are a little squeeky(which can be fixed) but if you have ever driven a fd with bad bushings then you will appreciatte the Jimlab bushings and the squeeking wont bother you at all. You can pm RotaryResurrection with questions about the motor as he is the one who built it. We have had this car about 2 months and put about 2k miles on it since then. NO coolant leaks and the car runs between 85-90C. Havent seen it get above 90C yet. NO oilpan leaks last I checked. Steve tune is extremely safe and the car's driveability is that of a stock car. Knock readings stay below 10 at all times. If you have anymore questions you can pm me. Hope this helps.

$17.3k is way too much for a car with 127k miles. For that amount on money you should be looking at cars with under 50k miles. Nice mods but they do not change the market value of a car all that much. With those miles, I would not pay more than $13k. (Actually, I would would not buy an FD with that many miles unless the owner was practically giving it away - it is going to be increasingly hard to sell as the miles pile up.)

Given how much of a money pit an FD is, it makes much more sense to buy a clean low mileage car and work from there, particularly if you have $17k+ to spend.

hey garrick ya need me to go with you or is erica going???

The car hasnt seen above 12lbs at any point and has been properly warmed up and cooled off everytime it is driven. Like I said we have had numerous 3rd gens so their is no need to "beat the piss out of it". I have had other singles tuned by various people and was shocked to see how smooth the car ran after Steve's tuning.

Sorry David I didnt mean to say the car was abused, I'm stating that it could have been. By the sounds of it, its probably a good car.

BTW I have bought parts form DAvid and he was a great seller, no problems. Good luck with the sale. :)

this is one great all around car. ive rode in it and fell in love with the way it pulled. i dont have the funds but i was very tempted to sell my car and try to get this one someway. theres no reason not to check this car out unless your afraid of commitment lol...

AMRAAM4 06-02-05 07:09 PM

The link sucks for me...maybe it's Firefox slow loading.

Anyway, if it has 127k miles as stated above, $17,300 is way too much, I agree. That would leave me to believe I could sell mine for $27,000 (which I couldn't). I would say $14,000 tops.

gcbutter 06-02-05 07:20 PM

Brand new engine with something like 4000 miles (3mm seals, streetported, etc..) I think that is it. David will correct me if I'm wrong.

coolvette 06-02-05 07:53 PM

If you have been burnt already with a problem fd Why would you buy a modded one with 127K on it? Go buy a stock low mile one,17,000 will buy a pretty nice stock fd.

gcbutter 06-02-05 08:13 PM

The one I did purchase was stock. The engine had problems shortly after purchasing it. It was my first FD so I was new to the game. I'm still a RX7 newbie, but I'm wiser then before. I will not buy a car I don't want. I'm going down to test this FD, and two other's. Hopefully I will find an FD to take home with me. The one with the single set-up looks great, and it's something I have been looking for. Agian, hopefully I find what I'm looking for. If not, then back to the waiting and researching.

gcbutter 06-02-05 08:16 PM

Oh, here is another link to te FD I'm talking about. Hopefully this one works.

It sounds very solid. Mileage doesn't mean as much as condition on these cars. I've seen plenty of low mileage cars that looked and drove like they had 200k miles on it.

The one downside is the a/c. Check out how much it will cost to re-install and decide if the price is worth it or if they can make enough of a concession to make it worthwhile.

gcbutter 06-02-05 08:40 PM

If I decide to buy the FD without the a/c, they will hook me up with the parts to re-install if that's what I want to do.

flyboyjuge 06-02-05 08:45 PM

ill just say this garrick: fast isnt always reliable...my car runs good for about a week and then something pops up. just something to think about. it gets expensive quick...but your a staff...you can afford it. peace

No problem at all. I understand you are just looking out for him. :) This car should run for quite some time without any issues as long as it isnt tampered with.

gcbutter 06-03-05 03:22 PM

One more day.... :-)

clburell 06-03-05 06:40 PM

Looks like you are heading down this way tomorrow. Look foward to meeting you and hopefully we can work something out on one of our vehicles. We will try our hardest to help you out with the ac before you leave if you do want the single turbo car.

Thanks
