Plateless 99 spec front?
Is this the same plateless 99 spec front that Extreme Dimensions sells?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Donovan |
All of the polyeurathane plateless 99 spec bumpers came from the same mold that chuck wang from rotary extreme had made for our group buy back in 04ish

What's the point in spending all that extra money Mahjik if the bumpers are the same? Unless I"m missing something, if so please enlighten me :)

You either spend it up front, or spend it later trying to get the cheap ones to fit properly.

It wasn't originally, however, several of their products have changed in recent years (like their shifter and many others).

Yeah I know what you mean. For the longest time I didn't know until someone told me that that pettit started selling the urethane bumpers as well. :)
|
I recently ordered a Pettit racing one because I was under the impression it was a better version of the extreme dimension's one everyone speaks about and I thought maybe Pettit racing made it themselves or had a better source for them.
They are in fact made in California and from the same mold as everyone else is saying. I ordered mine from them on a Monday and live in Southern California and I received it on Tuesday of the same week. It was dropped off by a guy that works for the company in the City of Industry. It's pretty damn filmsy when you first get it. Once you get the 99 spec lip on it it stiffens it up a little better. Cam from Pettit racing told me to spray expanding foam into the nose to stiffen it up. Once i did this, the bumper rigidity and shape greatly improved. After drying i fitted the bumper and allowed for it to set a few weeks before taking it to my painter, I pulled the car out of the garage and noticed a sag right in the middle of the bumper on the upper half... I haven't removed the bumper yet to see whats causing it, but it's a little unsettling. |
IIRC that was the main issue with those bumpers they had a sag in the middle or passenger side by the headlight.
|
damn. Sounds like OEM or Shine Burnout/Feed is the way to go then.
|
One can never go wrong with OEM but I've had mine on since 06 (bought in 04ish) and so far no sagging.
|
No sagging here, im the OP to the pettit thread posted above. Need to update with pics but fitment is pretty decent in my opinion and I've received numerous comments that people are really impressed and surprised by how well it generally fits.

Just went with the OEM 99 from corksports, figure I can always shave the plate off later :)

As I said you can't go wrong with OEM. At first I HATED the plate holder but now I kinda like it :).
I really don't know what people are talking about with all of this bad fitment or sagging. It just has to be 'massaged' as my bumper is just fine except for one small spot near the driver's side headlight. Which many wouldn't even notice, it so slight that it is not even visible in this picture that was taken at seventock last year. https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...1&d=1351189629 |
Does anyone know where I can get the black "RX-7" plate seen here?

...I'm not laughing :wallbash:

Plateless fits just fine if you take the time to actually fit it. You'd never know mine wasnt OEM from inspecting it unless you knew that OEM all had plates.
No sag, perfect fitment https://www.rx7club.com/attachments/...8-rx7-ccw2-jpg https://www.rx7club.com/attachments/...8-rx7-ccw3-jpg |

Mine fit fine, it'd needed a little massaging. For the price, more then meets my expectations. Not the best pic but you can kinda see the lines.
