pillar mount gauges

does anyone know of a pillar mount gauge pod (at least 2 gauge slots) that replaces the entire A pillar cover instead of being a tacky looking (personal preference, not trying to start a fight) slap on part?

tt2323 02-16-04 07:31 PM

I think autometer makes one...i bought the slap on though...

get a 94 integra a pillar with the gauges on it. Autometer has the whole pillar, and it fits the FD. They also make 3 gauge pods which will fit as well..

PM r71, he has a very nice setup for sell

pugg57 02-16-04 08:29 PM

the 94 integra A pillar will replace the one on my '93 FD? boy that's odd... have you ever seen it? does it match up well with the interior?

Quickfini 02-16-04 08:59 PM

Someone on here put a 94+ integra a pillar with 3 gauge pod on their FD and it fit perfectly.. well, with minor modifications.. but they said it fit better than the FD gauge pod haha..

FWIW, I HATE the A pillar gauge pods. Always seemed like I had to look around them in a turn. But, I also hated the mickey mouse gauge pods...looked Tachy IMO...until I put them in and forgot about Tachy and started thinking functional.

i agree with jspecracer7 i want the mouse ears and probably the steering column pod for functionality its all right in front of you.

A pillar mounted gauges are OK. It doesnt obstruct your view as much as you may think. I use it on street and track and like it.

I had the A pillar gauges for 3 years, until they got stolen(recently). I'm putting them back in. They didn't obstruct the view really. The only thing You have to watch is the clearance of your left hand between the wheel and the pod. I hit mine occasionally when making sudden turns. Not all the time, but enouph to notice it.
They're not for everybody.
You could do just as well by getting a steering wheel mounted boost gauge, and then getting the dual gauge pod that covers the front stereo speaker on the dash. I forget who makes that though.
I'll remember eventually.

Autometer makes a full length pod (available for 2 and 3 gauges) specifically for the FD. Check out their website. I have one it works great.

Wrong, I have the 94 integra 3 gauge pod and it doesn't replace it...after some serious hack jobing I got it to fit and looks pretty good now.

More photos in my sig...

Nice setup "apneablue". A *little* busy, but very neat and integrated looking. :)

i've found the mickey mouse ears gauge pod you guys are all talking about and (if i could find it out of regular plastic to match the dash instead of CF) i think it looks pretty nice. i really like the way the A-pillar pods look though especially the way speedking shows his with the matching black gauges and chrome trim. Speedking, do they glow orange like the stock dash too?

That interior shot I posted is of "apneablue's" car, not mine. IIRC, he has Defi LINK gauges which illuminate a greenish color like this:

Defi D gauges OTOH are amber/orange backlit.

At this year's TAS, Defi is coming out with a "new" defi link system which has an orange/amber background(same as the Defi D series) which WILL match the interior lighting.
