pics of new RA unbreakable seals

i just got my rotary aviation so called "unbreakable seals".

they advertize it as unbreakable because it is 700% more flexable and 85% stronger than the mazda 2mm's.

the price wasnt that bad. i got 6, 2 peice, 2mm apex seals, and 12 springs for $181.10 shipped using express mail(1-2 day).

here are the pics:

there are more pics on my website:

tell me what you think!!!

rzograbian 02-02-04 07:49 PM

btw, has anyone broken these already??

also, will it do a lot of damage when it breaks?

7-sins 02-02-04 08:02 PM

Man that sounds sweet, I have my motor apart... so probably a good possibility for the rebuild. I wish someone had some feedback or experience.

As a general rule harder seals make more of a mess but these do sound interesting. Stock seals can still cause a good amount of damage as well.

rzograbian 02-02-04 08:05 PM

yea i know but the thing i am most intrested in is if i can go single in these seals. there are people over 400 to the wheels on stock 2mm mazda seals so wont these be any good?

also, someone has experience with these. i think that he tried to blow them by detonating but they wouldnt break. i think that he tried 3 times but they didnt break

SPOautos 02-02-04 08:08 PM

$181 for a full set of seals and springs??? What do you mean the price isnt bad....thats cheap as hell!!! The OEM seals are about $350+ JUST for the seals. If you'd bought that stuff from mazda it would be around $450

Have anyone else ran these? Whats the deal with "unbreakable". Nothing is unbreakable.

rzograbian- You need to make sure they dont have special clearancing needs. Some seals need to be clearanced to a different tolerance than spec cause when they get hot they expand more than the oem.

BTW, how much would you let that a/c panel go for

pp13bnos 02-02-04 08:21 PM

Is anyone running high boost on these yet? CJ

rzograbian 02-02-04 08:24 PM

i sold that complete a long time ago. i think it was $100 shipped.

R-magic 02-02-04 11:08 PM

I just bought a couple of sets and going to be installing them by next month or 2. I'll be running a large street port and running a T-78 with it. Lets see how they hold up!

SoloKK 02-02-04 11:11 PM

Very interesting. Sounds like you should start a poll to see if anybody blew their seals.

rzograbian 02-02-04 11:16 PM

i have researched it already. the only person that blew their motor with these seals was someone on this fourm but i dont remember his name. when he took the motor apart, he realized that it was a water seal that was pinched and nothing was wrong with the apex seals.

as i said, people have tried to blow these seals but it hasnt worked yet so we dont know what kind of damage these will do. thats kind of good and bad :)

RX7 RAGE 02-02-04 11:20 PM

Where did you buy these from???

rzograbian 02-02-04 11:26 PM

it was from rotary aviation but it seems that it was under another business name. it was called "real world" something....

just go here: http://www.rotaryaviation.com/how_to_order.htm

give them a call with the number at the bottom of the page. talk to laura crook. tell her you heard about them from Roman but i think that they are sold out already...

just call that number and wait for the seals, their worth it.

I'm STILL running these apex seals. I normally run the atkins 2mm 2piece design, but I had a hard time keeping motors together because they kept blowing up the atkins seals. The RA seals are STRONG. Scathcart on this forum and the NP forum actually did a test to see how strong they really are attaching a switch to the rear secondary injector to turn it off for the testing. He broke all 6 corner seals, and 5 of the 6 side deals, but only cracked ONE apex seal. CRACKED. Did not come apart.

I am VERY impressed with these seals. I thought I would be the first to break them(since I have a habit of blowing shit up) but looks like he beat me to it.

rzograbian 02-03-04 12:48 AM

and r u running a single turbo?

wow, 19 lbs on a single.... thats cool. i was going to get the T04R later on and was wondering about the seals. now i know!

BigIslandSevens 02-03-04 01:01 AM

Jspecracer7....You make me laugh!! You remind me of one of my instructors at school( Dyno class) who always used to say.." If you want to make an omlette, you've got to break a few eggs." I like to see pioneers/people willing to blow up shit for the sake of everyone else that owns a rotary engine.!! Bravo, you deserve a pat on the back, as well as Scathcart. I am going to give a call in the morning for these seals.

jspecracer7 02-03-04 02:21 AM

I like to blow shit up...what can I say? Of course, 6 engine's in one year did beat up my wallet quite a bit....glad I do all the work myself...if not I'd be REALLY poor then.

MillSpeed 02-03-04 03:55 AM

Do RA produce "unbreakable" side and corner seals aswell?

No, they only sell apex seals.

MillSpeed 02-03-04 05:43 AM

Just ordered a set. Thought I'd get them while they're still cheap, apparently they're gonna put the price up soon. Just wondering where the real benefit is tho, if you get detonation the "breakable" side and corner seals are still gonna fail even if the "unbreakable" apex seals don't. The end result is still the same i.e. rebuild time!

Yes, however apex seals are normally the FIRST to go. If your detonating badly enough to kill off corner/side seals, then you more issues than even these seals can fix.

SWEET!

BATMAN 02-03-04 11:55 AM

BATMAN going to get me a set.

This and later on anti-detonation device will make Supra guys stop laughing.
