Pics of my Water Injection Set-Up
 

After having shipped my new, engine blown FD to Gotham Racing in TX, I picked it up on January 9th. We spent the night in TX, woke up early and drove to New Orleans, LA. In New Orleans, had a great tuning session with Steve Kan, and headed back to Atlanta.

When I finally updated my signature, people started PM'ing me about my WI setup. I finally got around to posting some pictures.

I had NO idea what this set up was going to look like and relied on the advice of the guys @ Gotham. The install is professional, and I can't hear the pump when boosting > 10lbs (when it kicks on).

As you can see, they did a great job and paid attention to a lot of detail. The added safety of Injection in "Hotlanta" is well worth the money.

3. The LED's underneath the stereo in the "cockpit", green indicates fuel injection, red indicates water injection. There is also a warning light down by the idiot lights on the center console that indicates when the pump clogs.

5. The tap into the elbow where the water hose goes in.

I also finally found some reliable places to get methanol and will be experiementing with different mixtures (One of my customers is a crew chief for a weekly Nascar circuit).

very nice looking car! The wi looks very nice, but 1 q. The water goes through the clear hose right?? (wasnt sure what hose, Im assuming it is correct me if im wrong)

Nice setup. good idea covering the tank with fabric, it really hides it a lot better. Looks reallly good. and silver :drool: maybe I'm a little bias towards silver, haha

Can you tell a noticable difference when it kicks in at 10lbs?

In certain circumstances you get a noticeable drop in intake temps > 10 lbs.

I'd love to be able to tell you I felt noticable power gains, however, I've had the WI setup on my car ever since I've had it. I'm not tuned for water, only using it for it's anti-detonation properties.

My knock sensor is currently disconnected. Either that, or I RARELY knock. The highest I see it register is 9 on the PFC, 3 most of the time.

Stop and go traffic is great. After hard driving, my water temps stay constant and intake temps hold study as well. Water temp is 84-87 degrees C on a 30 degree day or a 70 degree day. Intake temps stay mid thirtys to low forty's.

I'm hoping to avoid det, and keep carbon buildup to a minimum.

Many have reported 30-50 whp gains from tuning for water. I'm not certain if anyone has tuned a rotory for water.

Search for Zerobanger's write ups on WI, I think he has a lot more experiences with it than I.

What did you pay for the WI install? Was that labor, or labor and parts? I assume that is one of the Aquamist kits? How big is that water tank?

It looks like a sweet install job.

The system itself was $580'ish, Aquamist 2d (www.aquamistusa.com) I paid $50 for the custom box and about 5 hours labor for the install, I think.

artguy probably has the same setup. My conversation with Gotham Racing was:

Me: "I need you to install my Aquamist"
GR: "k, Where do you want it installed"
Me: "I don't know, one of the rear bins?"
GR: "We could do that, but when you open the rear bins it would look messy."
Me: "Ok, Whatever you recommend"

What you see in the pics is the results. I just let them do their thing and was QUITE pleased. All of Gotham's FD's are clean (steve, rich, alex, ihor), so their experience and taste was much deeper than mine.

My tank is about 1 quart, or slightly larger. It lasts me many fill ups, driving daily.

Yeah, I have a 2d sitting in a box. I plan to go with a 4 gallon tank, mix 20% methanol, have it tuned for running that way, and want it to come on with the secondaries.
