NICE!!!!

Dammm.... that's a pretty tight interior. Who much did all of that cost? I think the body shop did a pretty good job.

Dragueur 10-02-01 03:32 PM

i DONT know about other peeps opinion...but DAMN!!! that shiet looks pretty BOMB!!! how much that shiet cost??? i really like the CARBON FIBER look also though....

spyfish007 10-02-01 03:38 PM

Did you buy a car with a painted yellow interior? Anway, looks good. I always wanted to know how the white face gauges would look in a CYM .... now I know and now I am getting them along with my carbon fiber dash kit. I mean we don't want to be alike do we?

R1 POWR 10-02-01 04:27 PM

I'd like to see these images, but it seems that you've exceeded your Geocities hit-quota.... Can you attach the images to a message posted in this forum?

Thanks!!

Haha yeah, I bought the cym w/ the yellow painted interior so I sort of HAD to get it repainted. It was a pain the ass and I don't think I would have gone through with it if it wasn't yellow to begin with. It cost me $200 which was the cheapest price I could find. I think $200-$300 is fairly reasonable because auto body paint isn't cheap... It was still cheaper than buying a c/f overlay kit, hehe.

I also have it up on this site if the geocities quota is up.

I'll have to shrink them down a bit when I get home and post them as attachments on here later (they're 800x600, heh).

links dont work.

spyfish007 10-02-01 08:17 PM

I remember talking to a guy whos car was advertised in the online autotrader about his CYM .... about this time last year. It had pictures and you could see the dash pictures with the yellow paint on it. He was so proud of that too! Anyway, I poked around your web site and found a picture from the front and I could see the top of the gauge cluster and it was yellow .... that was the tip off for me. You've done a great job ... and that is an understatement.

hehe... thanks for the compliments, i guess it was worth my time to get it all repainted after all. when i was taking the interior apart i was beginning to think it was a mistake, heh.

...

potatobbq 10-02-01 08:31 PM

i don't know how to get these pictures to show up w/o downloading...

Taz 10-02-01 09:44 PM

Looks better than stock.
Was the old paint stripped first?

Touring FD3S 10-02-01 09:47 PM

I know you have already heard this, but you can never have enough compliments. Looks very good. :boink:

You have just given me more motivation to finish my interior. Thanks :bigthumb:

One again, great job.

Flybye 10-02-01 10:30 PM

WOW!! :bigthumb:

It's better than anything I've ever seen before! I was actually going to start buying the interior stock pieces because I really like the flat black rubbery texture until I saw yours. It really DOES give it a metallic look to it. It almost looks like the panels are made out of a dark aluminum! I think this is why I like yours so much. It looks aluminum. I wonder if it would even look more like aluminum if a dull coat were sprayed on it. Hmm.....

Again :bigthumb::D

silver93 10-02-01 11:36 PM

very nice!

i also did mine in gun metal (Testors Metal Spray)
orginally i did magnesium, and although it looked good alone, it was too close to the silver on the car, so it looked "too" matching.

so i restripped and did gun metal (also thanks to bb1)

the pics i took to post turned out bad (due to poor lighting)

point is, don;t waste money on buying new pieces from mazda! strip and paint the oringial ones. your car will look 100 times better!

Mudd 10-02-01 11:57 PM

What did you use to strip the plastic? I'd think anything like paint thinner or the like would be a bit too harsh for the plastic.

Wow - that looks amazing! What did the paint job set you back, potatobbq?

Thanks

Anyone know any really good ways to fix plastic and what I mean by this is I can see repainting these panels, but what about the situation where fasteners on the panels are broken? How do you repair the panels? This reason is why I would wind up buying new panels.

I DIDN'T do it, hehe... I paid the body shop to do it... they just sanded it down a bit before painting it. I was originally going to do it myself with model paints but it just didn't seem durable enough. It cost me $200 to get them sanded, painted and clear coated.
