Pics of my car with my dad's Jaguar E-Type

My dad came over to watch the Belgium GP this morning, then we washed / waxed his car. Thought you guys might like some pics what I consider 2 of the most beautiful cars ever made :)

nice, those are nice and expensive cars when it is restored correctly

fd3s_rx7 08-29-04 06:08 PM

looks nice, I like it...

purerx7 08-29-04 06:12 PM

Nice, real nice, is that red interior i see on the fd? It shows how both of those cars were marvels in their time and still are today. Atleast you got someone to guard those beauties, all I have is a cat :(

On a similar note, here's my car and my dad's Austin Healey 3000 mkIII:

yeah, that's red :) Watch out for that cat though, it may lay on your car instead of guarding it!

Awesome! I love british cars. I came close a couple of times to buying a mid-60's MGB, but never did. Maybe one day when I've got garage space and money to blow I'll get some old british roadster.

Does your dad take it to any of the british car shows in VA? My dad took his once, even though it's not quite in show condition, just to have some fun and meet the other owners.

bajaman 08-29-04 06:49 PM

Ah....my favorite car of all time....the Jaguar XK-E! :bigthumb:
I literally have every book ever written on them....this car has been my dream car since the early '60s. I have always said my life won't be complete until I own one.
High five your dad for me....he is a lucky man to have such a pristine Series One car.

What is really cool in the analogy between the two cars is they have almost EXACTLY the same performance!

:)

afterburn27 08-29-04 06:59 PM

Yeah, we frequent the british car shows in the richmond area and sometimes down at VIR. That second picture was from the skidpad at VIR. Usually my dad will drive his healey and I will take the Triumph TR6 which was actually my first car. Then I restored it and it is now under "joint custody" between my dad and I. :p: Lookout for the healey and this TR6 at the local shows...

Oh, I forgot to say earlier: very nice cars in the first post! :bigthumb:

FD_dave 08-29-04 07:13 PM

E-Type is truely one of the most beautiful machines ever made. so is the FD =P

SiKoPaThX 08-29-04 07:26 PM

Whoaaaa....I love that TR6

Tenacious 08-29-04 07:35 PM

I got a fully restored MGB(1977), lots of fun, but really slow!

i'll give him your kind words, it's not quite pristine, but it is drivable :o:. His mechanic has a line on a set of D-Type heads and cams, along with a triple Weber DCOE carb setup with velocity stacks for him, but he still hasn't gotten them. I raze him about it everyweek.

I could swear I've seen this car before. I'll keep a look out for you at the shows, I'm hoping to hit some this fall, I think there's one at the end of Sept or Oct?

My brother had a 79 MGB, in decent but not great shape. Slow has hell, but what a blast to drive around corners with the ass end hung out!

I can't see the pics, but my best friends dad has a 63 Healey. It is red, never been in the rain, 15,000 original miles. His parents bought it and were the first owners. He just got it fully restored. I will take some pics of it with my FD soon.

Nice pics! I love the old E-types - they're just stunningly gorgeous cars. A lot like the FD - truly timeless design that will look beautiful forever and never dated.

Joe, I LOVE the pics. That's awesome...I wish my dad was into cars like that. When he sees my car, the only thing he sees is a money pit that's depreciating in value... :(

FD_dave 08-30-04 12:08 PM

section-8, did your dad slap on the "E-Type" badges? I thought all the US E-Types were badged as XK-E's

Section8 08-30-04 12:21 PM

FD_Dave, my dad's E was originally sold in France and shipped back to the states by an Army Capt. The speedo is in KPH too, along with a few other minor differences that I can't remember off the top of my head.

adam c 08-30-04 01:52 PM

Don't let them park those english cars in your driveway .........without an oil drip pan underneath :D
