Pic of Stillen x-drilled rotors on FD
Hopefully understood "L" as being driver side and "R" as being passenger... FWIW, stillen has a pretty extenstive break-in procedure for its rotors. Unfortunately it doesn't correspond to new brake pad install (I chose Hawk HPS).
Take a look. http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/jbg28/vwp...iew=t&.hires=t Look pretty good. come in gold cadmium which I was a bit adverse to at first but most of it wears off + it matches the Volk logo. |
Looks really good...here's a link that works though ;)

Hmm. that link works for me. It is the "supersized" pic.
Thanks though. |
Very impressive car all together. With a polished UIM/TB, it would be perfect. Great pics.

Nice Brent!!!
Dang I'm jealous! why did you switch? Was your rotors going??? |
one of my fronts was slightly marred from putting the wrong bolt back in (washer'ed bolt goes on bottom) very slight - plus I wanted to give them a try.
Stillen uses chamfered/radiused holes + brembo blanks. Also changed out pads to Hawk HPS. I think given the amt. of time my car was sitting the rotors/pads were sticking quite a bit. (possibly attributed to my attrocious gas mileage - coupled with my lead foot). Shinobi - you going to polish them for me - after polishing my efini pipe I've decided that polishing is prison labor. I think my next items are coilovers, new turbos, + a vented hood. I'll probably polish my apexi intakes at some point in the future - a hell of a lot easier than the UIM... |

They look awesome, but the look kinda tiny next to those rims. Overall sweet car, the brakes just look so little...
|
looks nice i like ur rims
|
Granted they don't fill out the wheel as much as they did with 16's but it doesn't look that bad from a distance or a non-focused pic. I thought it would look much worse than it does.
Even this pic taken from an upward angle looks different. I think the fact that so much can be seen behind the wheel + the fact that it is rather clean the rotors stand out. Either way - new rotors are WAY down on the list there is noway you can convince me to get them any time soon, nope, not going to happen. got too many other things. 7racer saw the wheel/rotor combo and he's as picky as I am and he said "I don't know why everyone says that stock rotors look too small with 18's" |
damn your 99 j-spec rear spoiler looks sweet ! I want one ;)
|
Notice any kind of performance increase in braking?
|
the plating looks funny since it wore off on the rotor face, but still, nice!!
|
damn man - nice ride. very clean and tight.
|
very nice car man. those rotors look nice, i wonder how different they are from the brembo ones on ebay. would you mind telling us how much penny you spent on those rotors?

Rotors cost $240/pr. on the rx7store site. They are different from the ebay ones in a couple ways that I can see. I think the ebay ones are not radiused holes to reduce cracking, plus the ebay ones are drilled and slotted which I understand is a uneven design and is more sensitive to warping than all drilled or all slotted rotors.
Oh yeah - the coating is designed to wear off the rotor exposed to the pad. the plating is intended to keep rust off the top of the rotor and the outside edge. |

Install was easy -- well once I drilled out the soft set screws. Those screws according to Max & others only serve the purpose of holding the rotor in place while installing the caliper... A lug nut serves the same purpose..
