Pic request: "Y" pipe splitter mod
 
the original thread is missing the photos. we're doing this to my Y pipe and i wanted some photos for reference.

did anyone happen to save the photos before they disappeared from the internet?

+1, correct. Dividing the y-pipe is useless and the assertions that it somehow reduces turbulence and increases flow are wrong. The primary side runner and the transition into the plenum can offer some improvement if you have a flow bench and know what you are doing, otherwise leave it alone.

When the y-pipe is divided, flow in each runner is reduced significantly as you lose the shared flow capacity of the plenum area. Additionally, maximum turbulence is moved to a point closer to the 90 deg bend at the top, which further reduces efficiency. There is a reason that the pipe was not designed with a divider from the factory. It must be understood that dividing the y-pipe is not the same as dividing the inlets to a turbine.

What do you mean opinion? I put one on the flow bench, then cut it in half, modded it and reflowed it. Dividing the y pipe is bullshit--it buys you nothing--regardless of others' unsubstantiated claims. Trust me on this one.

The mods that I found do make a [modest] improvement cannot really be duplicated from pics, as it is the shape of the primary runner, not a divider.

derrick at A.R.T. (seee my sig) ended up welding in a splitter. check out the pics.

i have an extra Y pipe, so i figured we would do the splitter mod. we're going to put both of them on the flow bench when we have some time. A.R.T. is getting a dyno in jan so we're going to test splitter vs. no splitter on the dyno also.

I have buy a used y pipe from japan and come to me with this mod.
I have it in my car over 2 years now, transition work great but I feel the second turbo loose power from 0.7 to 0.6 in load condition.
I have new 99 spec turbo and is in great shape the same for vacuum line and solenoids ,do you guys believe that maybe this mod create this problem?
