All colored parts are powdercoated. What do you guys think?

evot23 03-18-04 09:26 AM

Powdercoating looks nice but you gotta clean that thing.

sacabon 03-18-04 09:29 AM

Yes i still have much work to do. Here's a better pic of the intake manifold.

VQracer 03-18-04 09:44 AM

The black UIM looks good.

Kinda wish I had done that instead of silver.

BTW did you do aluminum-ceramic coating or just plain color powdercoating?

nice job it kind of looks like the stuff they use to spray on a bedliner on a truck. did you do it yourself?

RX7Wishing 03-18-04 10:49 AM

looks good. but you need to give that engine bay some serious love man.. Gunk works well.

scratchjunkie 03-18-04 10:54 AM

looks good, and like the others say. you need to clean your engine bay a lil more. call me crazy but i like cleaning mine with WD-40 and a rag :D. w3rks wonders i say.

patriick 03-18-04 11:51 AM

RotaSpinna69 03-18-04 12:01 PM

everythin sticks to wd 40...it makes more of a mess in the end....ive heard of people gettin good results on plastic and rbber peices with tire shine

apneablue 03-18-04 12:46 PM

Clean it a little bit...But I think every FD engine bay looks good...dirty or clean :D You can see my bay in my sig

RX7Wishing 03-18-04 03:06 PM

lol engine bay looks like you went off roading without the hood and a front assembly :)

fastcarfreak 03-18-04 03:08 PM

you just need a really good engine detailing. the manifold looks good btw.

rx7raca 03-18-04 06:26 PM

i have a question about doing this.

can you sand the manifold so that it is smooth and looks shiny. because i dont like that rough look.

also does powdercoating hold heat?

MakoRacing 03-18-04 06:33 PM

Black looks good!

do you mean polished?

sacabon 03-18-04 08:58 PM

A buddy of mine did the powdercoating. He sand blasted it then used a wrinkle flat black powder.
Patriick: I'm using the stock bov. The pipe you're probably looking at is a piece that came with pettit's intake.

wickedrx7 03-18-04 09:47 PM

What kind of paint is on the alternator? I looks anodized, did you paint it. I think it looks great.

sacabon 03-18-04 10:02 PM

The alternator was chrome powder coated then a transluescent red over that. The pic doesnt give it justice. Quite a stunning piece

no....im saying the polished smoothness but in color. meaing black but a shiny smooth black. like how rims are powdercoated smooth an what not.

let me know if this makes sense or not...i just dont like the rough powdercoat look, i like smooth powdercoat...

GoRacer 03-18-04 10:38 PM

You would have to sand it down to get a smooth flat finish, as well as a flat powdercoat (as apoosed to wrinkled). I wanted to do the same thing in a flat black powdercoat.

spekdah 03-18-04 11:56 PM

why would you powdercoat it?? is it a heat thing??

Roar 629 03-19-04 02:39 AM

blackout...chuckle..like zerobanger's engine bay. nice work i love black on red :D

twinturboteddy 03-19-04 06:04 AM

NICE!

Tesshin818 03-19-04 07:43 PM

does the coat crack due to the heat in the bay ?
