i'm not sure where this thread should be long to, but i was wondering if anyone here actually use this product before?

can anyone verify this?

PFS rear Diff cradle vs Banzai diff brace

which one is better? and is it a good ideal to run both together? or just go with either one?

please i need some expert on this to verify this. Thank you.:icon_tup:

unless I'm mistaken, ErnieT uses it. . . that speaks pretty highly of its ability to keep a diff together.

Looks like it would do the job. I would bet money on the PFS Cradle doing more good than the Banzai brace, but i wonder if the bolts on the PPF are long enough to bolt through the cradle and the brace, both together I'm sure would be better and cheaper than a Cobra diff swap.

Two completely different products, with different functions. Our diff brace is to prevent wheel hop, the other is a girdle to prevent the case from cracking on high RPM drag launches. They can not be used in conjuction with each other. What is your HP range and what are you trying to prevent?

There is no one being better than the other, they do different jobs.

my goal is prevent wheel hop and prevent the case from cracking. but again... i'm not sure if this will be a good idea to use both together?

I have the Banzai diff brace and had my PPF crack which I welded to fix. So you have to pick what you want to protect, your diff or your PPF.

it all depends on usage and power output.

if you are a seriously into drag racing you probably want the PFS diff cage.

if you are not into lots of drag starts the Banzai brace is excellent. i run it.

you also need two other items to protect your driveline:

the Garfinkle Engine Torque Brace... ETB. the ETB takes all the twist forces out of your PPF.
(the Banzai Brace reinforces the diff nose and PPF against the up and down forces generated upon accel and decel.)

the other item? almost all of us need to lose the Torsen LSD as it is designed for 185 ft pounds of torque road racing not drag racing. you break one of the spindley spider gears and it takes out everything whether braced or not.

easy solution is to find a S4 T2 clutch LSD.

I have an OS Giken 1.5way super Locking LSD :D. After 4 hardcore track days I checked the oil and it was like I just put it in there instead of being black and nasty with the stock diff.

Very good theory on the engine torque brace! I took mine out after I got the Banzai motor mounts because I thought it was causing vibration (which wasn't the cause btw) and didn't need it anymore. Maybe thats why my PPF cracked. I'm gonna reinstall it now. Thanks again Howard lol.

ah.. this is gay.. i was wondering if i can use both of this together. so no more worry about cracking the ppf and the diff.


bottom line is... is it possible to use BOTH ? i dont want any thing to crack. . so yah.. opinions will help alot.

anyone here think.. it is possible to use both ? it look like it might be able to install both of them by..doing a little modify to it.

I'd like to see a unit that incorporates both to be honest, id like to have the best of both worlds, i"ve always wanted the Banzai brace but after seeing the PFS cradle i really like that too.

that is what i'm thinking .. i would want to see if there is a possible way to do it.

Together i know each individual piece will not work with the other, but a Banzai brace with additions made to it could make a wicked stiff and safe diff.

Are you building a full blown drag car?

I run the Banzai brace b/c it fits with my 4 inch exhaust (the KG did not) and it's worked well for me on the street.

Here is my Diffrential brace and Diffrential Girdle working together to keep things intact and on the ground.

i know for a fact that ernie t is useing it on his 750whp fd. hopefully he'll chime in to give a little input

Ernie can chime in all he wants, that wont change the fact they are different products designed for different purposes.

The reason we have not incorporated a girdle onto our brace, is we simply have not found a need for it. Myself and many of our customers are pushing well over 500whp and have not cracked one housing open yet. Not to say it wont happen now that I have dropped in my GT42RS 20B :) If it does then I will consider developing a girdle option for our brace. As I have stated many times before, if you have a high powered, drag only car (i.e. erniet) then buy the PFS girdle, if you are the 99.99% of the rest of the street driven Rx7 population than our diff brace will be more than adequate.

How many diffs have you broke. If none then get the banzai brace, Its one of the best on the market and does what its supposed to do.Rix +:icon_tup:for banzai.

You gotta do alot of modifying. The problem with installing both is the ppf frame takes up most of the bolt threads.

I haven't tested mine yet but I have fabricated a similar looking brace that Banzai sells. I will say this, the rear end wont budge at all except for the rubber bushings I installed to help with vibrations. I fabed this since I choose to move my engine back and eliminated my ppf with my 20b swap. The design of the Banzai brace does a great job of moving the frame mounting point closer to the diff itself. That other pic with the longer brace will work also but, the long extension will still allow for more diff movement than the Banzai brace since the long extension will still flex. Plus the Banzai brace will be far lighter. That's why I imitated that design.

i'm sure there is a way to make this happen.

I know this is an old thread but in regards of using the PFS Cradle in conjunction with the Banzai Diff Brace it is doable. I have done it just requires to cut a little piece on the cradle itself.
Anyways if anyone is interested on seeing pics just let me know.
