PFS Purple ECU and A/C
I have a PFS Purple ECU on a 94' FD. A/C worked PERFECTLY when i first bought the car, it wasnt until the MOMENT i installed the PFC that it f'd up my AC.
It has been like this for months...i just dont use the a/c much but now its hotter than godzilla shit and i want my a/c this is the deal - - turn a/c on, car's idle does not raise, idles for about 30 seconds then the idle starts boucing, bouncing, BOUNCING, BOUNCING!!, until its bouncing like 1k rpms up and down and then it stalls.... -if im driving in gear a/c works great..only the car can't idle with it on.. -now if i hold the gas down a little to keep the idle around 1200rpms no bouncing nothing! I know for a fact if i unplug and run the stock ECU it will run fine...so any ideas? |
Check the PFC forum:

ive seen that thread man, but i have a PFS Peter Ferrel Piggy Back...im afraid to do the mod
my car's a/c works fine the car just doesnt idle...people with the pfc have the a/c not engage at all |
So which are you using: the Power FC or the PFS piggyback?

Ok, so I'm assuming the "PFC" in your message was a typo.
I've never heard of anyone having A/C problems with the Purple Motor Eater. Are you sure you don't have a grounding issue? |
WHOOPS typo
yes definately the purple motor eater...although its not eating my motor maybe its due to the fact that I dont have an airpump? my grounding is great (ground kit) |
Why not just switch to something easier like a M2 ECU?

Does the idle improve with an electrical load? I know that on occasion, for no reason whatsoever, my idle will 'hunt' up and down a bit, but simply turning on the parking lights smooths it right out.
|
Due to the mapping of the ecu, the parking lights make it idle a little higher and probably takes it out of the hunting rpm range it was in. Not 100% sure but I think it was 750, then 850 and then 950 for idle rpm based on what was on, nothing, electrical load, and A/C.
|
hunts sometimes...mainly occurs when i try to adjust the idle up...anytime i move the idle screw ontop of the throttlebody to raise the idle, the car will raise it for about 2 seconds then bounce between the previous and the new setting until it stalls (same thing when a/c comes on) so therefore i cannot adjust my idle i have to move it back down
|
Are you sure the PFS unit works properly? i.e. have you tested it on another car?
|
i know the person i bought it from and he had the same a/c issue but his car ran great...the only other issue is it seems to run way to rich on setting 2 for 12lbs...at 12lbs on setting 2 the car stutters up high so i have to run 12lbs on setting 1
