Painting The Calipers

A quick question to those who have painted their calipers, do you think 1200degree paint will be ok?

3isacharm 02-08-03 02:33 PM

Cool thanks, 1200degree should be pleanty then! but I was just going to clean them up with a wire brush and then wipe'em down with some degreaser then paint'em is that how you did it ?

I painted mine last fall and they turned out absolutely awesome. I would suggest.

1. Clean them with a dremel or something similar.
2. Put 2 coats of primer.
3. 3-4 coats of paint.
4. At least 1 coat of clearcoat.

Definitely take them off the car entirely. Don't try to paint while they are on the car. It's not worth it.

lol, when I put on my Brembo rotors I decided to paint my calipers - somewhat half assed. I used 500 degree black engine paint (I think), painted the "Mazda" red with touch-up paint. I put about 6 coats of paint on and didn't take them off the car - they still look brand new and great. probably because I went with back though.....:D

i used the 500 degree stuff from advance auto about 18 months ago. after some basic cleaning, i did 3 coats of red, and then used sandpaper to sand the red off the "MAZDA". looked great then, looks great 18 months later -

I did mine over the summer and didn't bother to remove the calipers from the vehicle. It seemed easier to me just to leave them on. I used less than 2 small cans of gloss black Testors model paint for both front and rear. I think I put 3 coats on. First I used a wire brush wheel attached to a drill to clean the calipers up first. Looks great!
