Paint Code?
Can anyone tell me the paint code of a 93 Red R1 Fd? any help would be appreciated.
|
Color code is NU.
|
thanx very much!
|
Would it be the same for a 1994 R2 by any chance?
|
All you have to do is walk out to your car and look at the chassis sticker in the door jamb!
|
When it was first painted, wasn't it a mix of colors. 2 on the vr, and like 3 on the cym. When people get repaints don't they usually just get one coat of red, so it's not actually the exact same color?
|
is there any truth to this?

FD color codes:
titanium grey metallic: 25G (there is a titanium grey II - 29Y - used on later mazda cars) sunlight silver: 22V highlight silver: 18G silverstone metallic: 3L innocent blue mica: 20P brilliant black: there are two codes, A3F, PZ (I used PZ, not sure about the other) pure white: A3D chaste white: PT snow white pearl mica: N6 competition yellow mica: J9 vintage red: NU (version V and VI (98-02) use NT) montego blue mica: M8 sunburst yellow: HZ |
^ 93 BB is PX according to my car doorsill
|
I've never seen PX before...
for JDM FDs (slight difference for USDM, due to the peculiar dating used) titanium grey metallic: 2002 (spirit-r only) sunlight silver metallic: 2000-2002 highlight silver metallic: 1998-2000 silverstone metallic: 1991-1998 innocent blue mica: 1998-2002 brilliant black: 1991-2002 pure white: 2000-2002 chaste white: 1991-2000 snow white pearl mica: 2000 (RZ only) competition yellow mica: 1991-1993 vintage red: 1991-1998 vintage red II: 1998-2002 (note: not 100% on the change-over point for these) montego blue mica: 1991-1995 sunburst yellow: 1997 (RS-R only) and 2001 (R Bathurst R only) |
oh, and sunburst yellow = HZ, MBM = M8
|
I'm pretty sure *red* R1 and Base models have a different color code (and color) than Touring models.
Make sure you get the correct color. |
Anyone know the paint code for this car

alright this has bothered me for years so I'll go ahead and put my 2 cents in. Most of these paints by the time they reach the consumer change names about 3 different times. If your having trouble finding them that could be the very reason. I'm not sure about the color codes on the door, I don't ever have need to check them because I work at paint factory that supplies spoilers to all the oem companys. For example Brillant Black, comes from a 55 gallon drum of paint supplied to us by Morton Paints. It is also the same source of black paint to all the other companies with in need of black parts, although it's not the same name. If you want to find the factory color compare your color of your car with the dupi-color pens at wal-mart. It sounds crazy but all the dupi-colors pens have the factory paint number and name.

Dude, what are you talking about? A paint code is a paint code...the whole point of the system is that a shop can get the same color as any other shop.
|
I am planing to repaint my fd with HZ color.
Because mazda use this color on 1997 model and 2001, as daioni write, and propably mazda in my country didnt have this code, because in europe stop the fd3s import on 1993, from were I can buy the color? |
we should make this a STICKY!!
