any of you guys have experience with this setup from J.C. Whitney? {or another distributor}

Most things from Pacesetter are cheap, and it shows. Most of their stuff is crap. I can think of plenty of other options that would work. From Apex'i, Blitz, Pettit, M2, a used Tripoint or ASP, etc.. Any of these options would be better, not sure about cheaper though. Don't get the HKS or Greddy style filters though, they are foam and don't filter worth crap, and can't or shouldn't be reused.
