I have daily driven my civic and FD without power steering for years. Finally, I put the power steering back on the FD, and it feels so weird. I don't know if I can get used to this. Has anybody else gone through this change?

yeah i lost my powersteering for about a week and i hated it. i'm glad to have it back.
it wasn't bad on the highway but making uturns was annoying

I have a beater S10 pickup that's my daily driver. It has no P/S, and everytime I get back in my FD, I think "This is so easy to drive." And like NeedFD said, whenever I have to do a U-turn in my truck, I feel like the captain a large yacht- too much turnin!

There's a day and night difference from P/S to no belt to a looped line to a full manual conversion.

From what you describe did you just loose a belt?

Trust me. I full manual conversion is NOTHING like a looped line. It's a helluva lot easier...far more than just a basic manual conversion.

DrunkenBowler 06-12-06 12:27 PM

Yeah, there was just no belt. I thought about looping the line, but then again, p/s is nice to have when parallel parking.

No p/s meant that I had a better feel for the road. You can tell when the car is about to understeer around a corner.

are talking about swapping in a manual rack as a ful manual conversion? or getting the one on the fd rebuilt to full manual? just curious.

Converting the stock FD rack to manual. Such as the Maval conversion.
