Overheating when A/C is on
Am I the only one who's experiencing this problem? Regardless of ambient temp, my car stays at 87 deg cel during normal driving. When the A/C is on, temp will start to climb within the first minute. I don't have the heart to see how high it'll go but highest I've seen is 100C within 5 min the A/C is switched on and that's under normal driving conditions (no hard acceleration). Compare this to 97 to 98C when I race real hard without the A/C on. I've checked the fans and both of them are on when the A/C is on. I'm totally baffled.

My own does it too. It think its because the position of the condenser it is too horizontal to receive in coming air and if it do receive it the engine cooling fans pulls in the hot air from the freon passing thru the condenser. Also along with the extra effort the engine has to put out to turn the compressor.

Check your A/C Fan relays. Fans should be cranking at high speed. My idiot temp guage went above horizontal with the A/C on in city driving also.

mine did that for the first time today...only when i was sitting in some really heavy traffic...it was fine when i was cruising though...pretty strange.

you know, I've notcied this also. I thought having the AC on would encourage the fans to kick in, but I seem to always have higher temps when the AC is on--just like you described 94*C vs. 103*C. (especially in traffic)
What gives? |
i've experienced the same and i have my fans modded to run on high speed all the time. my solution has been to not take the car out when its that hot...
