overheating
i need some reasurance.
today my water filler cap came loose. when i was stationay it boiled over and lost a large amount of fluid. when i saw the steam i stop the engine straight away. just before the warning buzzer sounded. when it cooled a bit i replaced the coolant and dosent seem to have lost any. the oil still seems clear, there is no sign or oil in the water and seems to be running as normal ie no over heating. is there anything else i can do to check it out. i hope its ok, r there anyother tell tale signs of damage that i should look out 4. thanks scott |
There won't be any tell tales to look for, but watch you coolant level over the next few days to make sure it is topped off. And, if it continually loses coolanrt while you drive (but didn't do this before this happened), then start looking on this forum for O-ring failure :(
But you're probably ok since you shut it off before the entire system overheated. Local boiling may have occured, which is why you want to watch it. But O-ring failure can show up months after an overheating event, so just keep it in mind.. |
Replace your radiator caps, it sounds like they're bad.
Good luck with your engine. |
