overboost problem
About two days ago I was driving in to work on the freeway, going to make a pass I left it in fifth and let the turbos do the work.. coming right up to 3k rpm and wham.. what felt like a hesitation. I am thinking, how am I getting a 3k hesitation with a PFC? Then I think again and check the peak/hold on the PFC.. .90bar WTF..fuel cut!? So I baby the car into work, luckily everything was fine and no damage was done.. probably because it happened at a lower rpm. This got me a little worried so I tore apart the whole intake side yesterday and checked all my lines, I decided to remove the restriction pill from the main wastegate line. I took the car out and now I get .47bar max, which is fine since I am safe now.. but what the heck could have cause my overboosting? Maybe the pill got lodged sideways in the line? I think I am going to leave the pill out now and just get a boost controller though. Anyone else experience this? My only mods are Nur spec catback, PFC, fluidyne, and pettit AST.. that's it.

I have had overboost "events" with the stock ecu on cold mornings or punching 5th gear under a load (hill). I did not hit feul cut, but my boost gauge told the tale. It is obviously not a good thing, but I think that it happens occasionally. I do not have a PFC, so I am not sure how your computer handles it. If you want an extra bit of "safety", put a slightly larger pill in the WG line.

Does the PowerFC still perform a fuel-cut like the stock ecu?

Yes, fuel cut occurs at .25bar above what your boost is set at. So for example I have mine set at .75 right now, so when it got up to .90 I got fuel cut.

Don't you mean 1.0 bar? (0.75 + 0.25 = 1.0)

Yeah, I failed math class for the day.. :) I must have had my boost setting at .65-.70, I can't remember which but I am positive it was hitting fuel cut.
