over boost on cold night
check out what my sbc-id reads after i over boosted on a cold night.
|
449 hp!!!! i figured something was not right.
|
check out the graph. its crazy spike
|
That's cool and all, but you should be scared shitless and relieved as hell that nothing bad happened.
Today I hit a 14lb spike and shitted myself. :) |
hey i almost had a heart attack. lucky thing that the sdb-id has boost has boost retard and warning lights.

how were u running 18 lbs???? did u have a 3 bar map sensor???? DaedelGT thanks |
how did you run 18lbs with stock injectors?
|
I'll try to say this without sounding like an ass.
If you read the instructions for the Power-ID (not SBC-ID, the SBC-ID is the boost controller), you will know that spiking will occur on the dyno graph when running through mulitple gears. That is why the manual suggests to make single gear runs from low rpm for a more accurate chart. That being said, my dyno graph peaks out at over 600 hp with no boost spike what so ever because the dyno function continues to record even during regular driving. So simply put, you can't use the dyno graph to interpret boost conditions. Good day. |

today i hit 1.36 kg/cm^2 (19.6psi) on the PFC.

When you guys are talking about the boost, are you all talking about the primary turbo boost (2500rpm~4500rpm)or twin turbo boost? (4500rpm~up)
With the stock set up the primary turbo hits 0.8cm^2kg, and when it becomes dual turbo, the boost should be 0.6cm^2kg. So when you all raise the boost, which one ru raising? (i have my manual boost cont. connected on primary rubo actuator. Is it better to raise the dual turbo boost?) |
What does it matter ? 20 lbs on the primay will detonate your $tuff jsut as bad as 20 on the secondary...
|
I only ever spike really bad on the primary. I think my secondary is the one leaking oil :)
|
lmfao...18 lbs? Try 38 lbs...now THAT is how to overboost.

o ok, i was talking about *stock fd3s* >.<
not your super rx7 with rx6 =P |
I got 22 psi with my car.. i didn't know until i heard a pop.. i press the peak read back on my greddy boost gauge and it was at 1.5 bar.
I running non-seq, with greddy fmic, dp, mp, racing beat dual tip catback, the air temp was about 14c. I think my 3mm apex saved my motor. |

well, if power is everything to you (jspecracer7) i guess you can continue on talking about larger turbine with higher boost.
Have fun on the 1/4mile with those over sized muscle cars. =) Im more into racing on the track. RX6 is great for fd3s...responsive and good enough for gerenating adaquet power for the tracks i goto. |
