ORC clutch throw out bearing

I had this problem with my ORC single plate clutch since I changed it this summer, whenever the clutch pedal is pressed, there is a metal grinding noise. My friend told me its 100% the throw out bearing. checked RHD japan, they are selling the ORC release sleeve for 174 bucks + 34 shipping, its a 200 bucks TOB, here is the link :

so does anyone ever replaced a ORC clutch throw out bearing, is there any alternative?

I know this is an old post but wondering if you have an update? Were you able to order and replace? I am having the same issue and have an ORC also. Am seeking replacement throw out bearing.

Are there any part numbers on the throwout bearing? That may be a clue to find a replacement.

It's most likely a stock bearing for some other car, I seriously doubt they would engineer a throwout bearing from scratch.

Hi DaleClark, dnt see part number. I am having the hardest time trying to find a replacement from ORC. But after looking at this I am assuming that genuine means OEM?

Can't tell from the original post, is this the ORC pull push conversion, have one of those lying around I can measure. I've paid about $30 for a Natchi throw-out in the past from a bearing supply similar to that - if RHD wants $200 for it, tell them they're dreaming! If it's a pull clutch, undoubtedly it will be a stocker, exedy carbon uses that too.....I'd probably get that aftermarket monolock though for near total reliability.

Checking price from Japan, original unit is ~ $80.

Suspect what the original poster was chasing was the push bearing plus the aluminium carrier. For posterity - if anyone doesn't want to drop the gearbox to find out what's there, the bare bearing is NSK TK40 1B2....and seems to run under $30

No luck it is not an oem. I am having the hardest time locate a replacement. This is the one that came off car. Any help would be most appreciated. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...cef93712e.jpeg

That's not a pull clutch bearing, as far as I can see. There's nothing to retain the clutch ring on that collar - and even if there was, it's not round - with flats where the clutch fork attaches. A push clutch uses that top surface to run on the clutch fingers.

On the one here, which looks pretty much the same, the bearing detail is etched on the inner ring next to that hard anodised aluminium carrier.

The only marking I see on it is TK45-4B

I'd say that's what you need! Need something like a spigot bearing puller or put the aluminium part in dry ice for a minute or two....and it might drop off the bearing with any luck.

Edit: I suppose you could also get heat into the bearing to remove if it's toast, shouldn't need an oxy, little LPG torch - or even a kero blowtorch....if there's still such things over there.

Im afraid the sleeve assembly is defective and needs to be replaced also. . Car has ORC pro carbon series clutch and converted push throwout bearing. *sigh

Bit odd the FD carbon clutch is pull and the FC is listed as push......unless earlier versions were different. The carrier shouldn't be a wear item, only clutch fork should have any contact, if it's cactus, I'd probably send an email with a picture to Jesse Streeter in Japan so he can make inquiries.....it's a bit different to the one here which has fixed retaining clips for the fork. Worst case, you could probably get a machine shop to make a copy, but expect that wouldn't be cheaper with the several features on the piece.

Another option might be a diaphragm spring change, vaguely remember Exedy carbons allow you to buy the components to convert, maybe ORC is the same.....and at least you'd have an appropriate new throw-out bearing!

Sun is probably just rising now over there and he can't do much on a Sunday, but tomorrow your time, 3 or 4 hours from now, would probably get something, rather than an automated "out of office" response you'll get today.
